Well since my car was hit by a dear i got this 2008 city golf as a rental car and man is it a little peppy beast for only 115hp and 122tq.
It has the 2.0 6 speed tiptronic transmission, and is it ever fun to play the the manual mode. The tranny itself sucks at picking a gear when you want some get up and go, but if you play with the + and - she goes pretty fast. From what i understand the golfs are similar weight to a sunfire aswell.
This thing can't touch my sc'd sunfire, but from driving the base city model i can't help but wonder how one of the new tdi clean diesels would be. Kinda makes me think about test driving one and upgrading.
and this is in performance why?

and what the hell is a city golf?
This doesn't sound right for many reasons....
2008 has no Golf it's now a Rabbit
2008 would be an MK5...
MK5 2.0 liter is a direct injection turbo motor (FSI pre 09, 09+ TSI)
The only engine available in a 2008 Rabbit is a 2.5L 5 cylinder, the 2.0 was only in the GTI and the 3.2 was in the R32
The N/A 2.0 liter from the MK4's I don't believe was ever mated to a 6 speed manual or automatic
so wtf were you driving? Is this some kinda abomination from Canadia or something?
Haha, Who would pay friggen 17k for 115 hp
That's a retarded question, how about all the people lookng for a new economy car that aren't concerned with horse power, as the article says it's one of canadas best sellers.
0-60 in 10.4 seconds is not peppy its an eternity

Whops meant for other cars section, dunno how it got here.
Yeah i had a full car of 5 people and it didn't have too bad of a lag. Not sure why the numbers are low but it's way faster then my long gone 2000 sunfire 2200.

What a piece of @!#$, they took the MK4 (which they stopped making here in early 05) and added a 6 speed auto and added headlights and taillights to make it mimic the MK5 styling LOL
Despite all the horrors of W electrical, it's one of the best bang for the buck cars I saw while shopping for a new car in '07.
The original City Golf was an exact copy of the Mk4. The only additon was the optional 6 speed automatic. They started at $13,995, and drive pretty nice for that price. A loaded 5 speed model (except the wheel and tire package they wanted over $1200 for) was going to cost the same as the basic automatic. We almost bought one. I still kind of want it for the nice features it has, despite the horror stories. You just can't get some of this stuff for the same price. For just about $17,000, we'd have got all the options the corolla had, except the automatic (which was my wife's choice, they had a brand new '07 S package with a five speed and they added the TRD muffler and springs at no extra cost that was really nice to drive, but you know women. Couldn't be white, and couldn't be a stick.), and we'd have had heated mirrors & seats and heated washer fluid nozzles to keep them from getting clogged in winter (this is the kind of thing that's important in -50 C), and I think it came with an electric seat package as well.

Not really,,,, There's alot of better cars for under 17k, VW's suk! I rather drive my Cavalier
Yes it was a retarded question...
First off, they don't make cars with intention to not sell them, they make what sells, and directly from the article "sales of the City Golf and City Jetta took off like a V1 rocket, making them among VW Canada’s most popular models. "
Second, prices are Canadian.\
Third, your Cavalier isn't a new economy car that on the market.... so that relates to this in what way?
Plus i get better gas mileage..lol
your szhit doesn't make sense. shut up.
115hp is enough for me. What I'm I in a hurry for? Get groceries? Go to work? Big fan of hatchbacks myself so I could see myself driving one.
Not sure what to say but compared to the sunflower with dspecs+prokit, the golf handles comparably at high speeds.
Might be the 6500 redline and 6 speed trans that makes it feel a bit peppier, or that it only has 45k on it.
It's a decently priced car, but it's hard to not have power windows/locks/alarm. And that'll up the price a bit.

I take it that's your way of saying your to stupid to come up with any sort of relevant thoughts in this thread?
Nope, just too drunk to argue.
