how much hp would i get from a performance header for 96 sunfire se already got a intake and also lookin for som other upgrades as well?
depends are you adding stickers?
1hp to 5hp or so...
You need more than just an intake and header. How about adding a full 2.5 / 2.25 exhaust system, resonator, nice muffler?
(in before turbo / NOSSSS!!!!)
one of my honda friends (note the car before the burn) said a 3inch echaust was best for turbo. i think 2.25 is fine but then again i don't drive a honda
ive got a ractive exhaust on there to and i just found out that some of the stuff im goin to need for a turbo my bud said he would give to me and help me put it on for free and he would give me a discount on his old 50 trim

cliffnotes: honda people see power/torque increases from using 3" exhaust on naturally aspirated engines.
well look at that my friend was finally right about something
what about us skwirl, best size exhaust pipe for boost and non boost?
2.25 for non boost, 2.5 for boost. that's what i've seen the most of in the forums.
thats not to big on 2.5 to cause O2 sensor issues? im not sure if you need a heated o2 sensor or not
ohnoes 19posts left this month? X.X
Eh it depends I run 2.5 with no boost and love it. I run 2.25 on my unboosted ohv and 2.5 on my boosted ohv. For me personally 3" is the only way to go when boosting. And 3" is the max I would go on a road faring n/a 4 cyclinder. It all depends on how you want to set it up.
I'm running 2.5 from the pacesetter header back (magnaflow cat, 31" resonator, super turbo muffler), and I have no problems. My 1/4 miles times are better, and I get better gas millage. Its also nice and quite, you can barely hear it at WOT. The intake makes more noise than the exhaust.
I never touched back on this thread...
in terms of weight and packaging, n/a (ie. non boosted) should probably stick with 2.5" from front to back.
if you feel saucy, and can fit it under the car, 3" is fine.. boosted or non boosted.. it doesn't matter.
a lot of people will argue that 3in. is "overkill" for a naturally aspirated car, but for a brief time my car was the fastest naturally aspirated eco here.. and I had 3" exhaust.
it won't hurt performance.. it will help in the midrange and higher RPM. but people seem to be obsessed with this mythical thing called low end power...
it doesn't exist, and even if it did, you hardly use it. Midrange (3-5k) and top end(5k-7k) is much more important.
Josh, your friend was wrong (unless you quoted him wrong). when I say n/a, I mean naturally aspirated.. meaning no boost. The thread I linked to earlier was people who are naturally aspirated seeing power/ torque increases from increasing exhaust diameter to 3inch.
You don't shift at 3k when you race?
i shift at 7k
jokes
well im torn inbetween what i want to do with my car
i've got a LN2 stock internals that with replaced pistons can boost at low levels
i got a free 2.4 with a bad rod bearing
or i could spend an assload and get an eco swap
(still in the process of doing the 5speed swap i have everything but the tranny)
im looking for 250-300hp
