Build options

Around the first of the year, say mid Jan early Feb I plan to build my spare motor for boost.

I have a 99 z24, yes LD9.

Will be running the STR log manifold, a Garrett TO4E 50 trim turbo, turbonetics delta gate external wastegate, and Greddy RS BOV. I will be using a small, 28x7x2.5 FMIC for now, if I heat soak it I will upgrade later. I already have it, not changing it unless I need to.

Now that the turbo parts are out of the way and are actually in my way in my garage, lets talk about the motor itself.

I thought about doing the 2.6 stroker, to me seems like more of a PIA than its worth. Yeah, its cool and not many people have them, just don't want to go through all the work to do it, and yes I know exactly what needs to be done, thats why I don't want to do it.

I already have a spare LD9 block. has approx 80k miles on it, I pulled it from the car because of possible rod knock, turned out to be a bad timing guide.

My plans:
Eagle rods
.020" over Ross or weisco pistons (depends on availability at time of order)
ARP head studs
ARP Main Studs
p&p head
over sized valves and upgraded springs and retainers
2.3 oil pump swap to loose B.S. weight
Secret cams (already have them, if I can find others in the mean time ill use them, if not the secrets are going in)
HO manifold swap
Bigger injectors, have lsj injectors right now, may start with them and see where I end up

I think that just about covers it all, aside from tuning. I am working on something right now, may buy HPT if this doesn't work out, looks promising though.

This will continue to be a daily driven car for a couple more years, thats why I'm not doing anything too crazy.

Comments, questions, concerns.... lets hear them

Nice to see another daily driven built/ turbo cr coming together. Ive been turbo for almost 2 years daily driven on stock motor and Im building a spare to drop in as well. Heres my build plans:

wiseco .040" 9:1 pistons
eagle rods
cometic .074 hg
Modified HO cams with bored 2.4 intake tower and 2.3 exhaust
2.3 lifters, springs and retainers
Mildly ported 2.4 head
2.3 oil pump swap
arp head studs
RC 650cc injectors, modded walbro 255 intank pump, walbro 255 inline pump, 8an feed line from booster pump

I had originaly planed to use secret cams but HO was easily persuaded to go with HO cams. If your interested Id contact Zyaaaaa, he may be able to hlpe you with pretty much everything you need for them as well as 2.3 pump swap parts if you need them.

Oh and be sure to post some pics! I havnt realy seen many of the str manifold
