never heard of the spyder exhaust. however, chances are, you'll be much happier and have more cash left over if you just choose a muffler, resonator, and a high flow cat and take them to an exhaust shop to have pipework bent and welded up.

well i can get a magnaflow exhaust without resonator for like 175 from a local exhaust shop so i might go with that

have your shop do it in 2.5" piping...you will be MUCH happier than raspy 2.25

the cobalt SS (LSJ) Muffler runs the same performance as the magnaflow without the noise (Dyno Proven).... so only get the magnaflow if you want the fart can noise

Personally, I think a Magnaflow exhaust set up sounds nice and performs great. 02fox is on target with the size of the piping. Just got a dual exhaust set up with 2.5 inch piping and it sounds very good. Has a nice deep rumble and sounds deep when you push down on the pedal. A deep sound is a lot better than the "fart cannon" sound in my opinion. (no offense to anyone) Oh btw be sure to install some performance headers and a high flow cat when you get the work done cause it would be pointless to only get the exhaust completed.

wouldn't the 2.5 exhaust cause the engine to run a little wacky or lose power due to the drop in back pressure?

i remember people on here saying 2.25 for n/a and 2.5 for boost.
and i JUST put a 2.25 in/out magnaflow on mine with pacesetter header and it doesn't sound too bad and there is no rasp.

depends on the N/a Build and boost build

well i have a corolla as a project so the cavalier is pretty much going to stick with the current mods but i wanna do a full exhaust soon, engine mods are: pacesetter header, muffler stated above, cheap pepboys intake until i get an rd fabs one.

imma go with the cobalt SS muffler for sure... i prefer to sound stock and let my motor make all the noise... and it won't be hindering performance... and im not just saying that because i plan on doing an exhaust cutout

does the cobalt muffler fit directly on the stock cavi exhaust? do they both flow the same? i know the sport one is louder and id like something not too loud

im not sure on how it mounts to the J, but anything can be fabbed up... im sure its louder than all the J mufflers, but its got the exact same flow and dyno results as the magnaflow with less than half of the noise...

thanks for your help im still a noob

Im rocking 2.5" Magnaflow catback and it sounds great on my car. i had my local shop do my piping and they crush bend yes, but its not going to be a problem for any cavalier on here unless you are boosted and really looking for tight numbers.

In no way shape or form does my exhaust sound like a "fart cannon" or "rice". i have had so many complements on it and many civics asking me what brand it is because its got such a nice low rumble.
magnaflow is a great choice imo.

You can't just pick random exhaust pieces and slap them together (for good performance). You need to come up with a game plan first.

- Is your car going to be boosted, N20 or N/A
- Where are you going to be HP and TQ wise
- Do you want to gain TQ down low or gain HP higher?
- 4-2-1
- 4-1

Example if your going to boost you might want to go with a higher tubing, if your sytaying NA you might keep it at 2.5 etc.

If you want to do it right think about your overall plan.

imho ... if the car is louder than stock... and the exhaust is louder than the motor, its rice... the end...

i'm still on my stock Z muffler (havent got to this part of the build yet), and my motor screams... my exhaust is only slightly louder than stock, and mainly at idle when its "lobey"
