Help me figure this out.

Ok, this has to do with my Tach gauge in my 97 cavy. I am running a 2000 ECU because I need to use the GM reflash for boost. In doing that it caused my stock tach gauge not to work. Most of you know I wired up a 2 1/16 tach gauge, ran a wire from that to a new pinout on the ECU and I have a tach signal.

I want to get rid of that autometer tach, now in theory if I take that SAME wire going out of the autometer tach and run it to the gauge cluster tach wire, shouldn't the tach work then? Would I hook it up to the PINK wire(that's what Ive read in other threads). So essentially I will have the new pinout wire running from my ECU to the gauge cluster wire.

I hope I explained this right, bottom line is that im just taking the autometer gauge out of the equation and hooking the stock tach up to the new pinout on the ECU.

Thanks for the help

David, In 100% theory....

If you take that signal and run it to the gauge cluster tach wire you should be fine. Honestly, I would talk to fetter about it. Since he seems to know more about it.

Does your coolant gauge work?

Mike Yep I think that is where my new pinout is located, where Brandon ran his, thats how I got my autometer gauge to work.

My coolant gauge does not work.

Talking to my tuner, he seems to think that the 'BCM' rumor my just be that, a rumor. He thinks the tach in the 2000+ cars do not need that, it just simply 'runs through it' for whatever reason.

I'm just lookin to see what you guys think until we get finished with my engine, then i will try out my theory.

Thanks Mike, keep the idas coming.
