U mite wanna check in the transmission forum. Im not sure cuz I have yet 2 do it but I think u jus press out the stock rubber, clean up the stock casting & press in the bushing.
It beats a Honda!
Jack the car up and put it up on jack stands, well supported.
Using a small piece of plywood or 2x4, use the same jack to help hold the engine/ tranny so that when you remove the tranny mounts, the engine will be held in place.
Under the car, you need to go toward the back of the firewall and you'll see the rear engine mount. It helps if you have another person helping you because there's 4 bolts that hold this mount on. Two can be removed from the bottom of the car while the other two can be gotten from the top with a long extension.
Once all the bolts are loosened you'll have to figure out a way to get this assembly past the steering rack and it's hydraulic lines but it can be done with just a very little manipulation of some things but it will come out.
Once out, you can hammer out the old bushing and install the new. You don't have to use a press to get them out or use a press to install these. Been there and done that on two L61 Cavaliers.
Make sure that you measure the collars of the new mounts with the old mount you removed because both new mounts look similar to the other but there's a difference in the collars length. This is where I had issues with both cars I've done having to cut collars to make them fit into the slots for the mounts to be inserted. But I didn't check the collar lengths so make sure that you get the right collar for the right location by measuring first.
Reinstall new mount assembly by manipulating it back into place. Tighten to spec or as close to spec as feasible.
On the drivers side mount, pretty much the same thing as the rear.
It takes time to do these and again, get some help with a buddy so that one person can be on the ground, under the car while the other can get you the tools/ parts you need to help out.
On reinstalling the side mount on the drivers side, you may have to manipulate the engine a bit or the jack that's holding up the engine so that it aligns up for the bolt to go through.
It's not really that hard and if you take your time and do this methodically, it's quite easy but time consuming.
And remember to measure up your collars from the new mounts. There's a difference. If there's not, they you're going to have to cut the collar on one of the mounts so that it's easier to install it into it's retainer. I've had to do this with two cars now and not sure what's up with Prothane but having the right cutting tool on my grinder took mere minutes to cut to length.
Good luck and hope this helps just a little.
