Hey,
when i rev my 2.2 ECOTEC to the rev limiter (About 6500) with the pedal on the floor the sound of the engine change at 6100. Its like the sound of a vvt-i or a vtec. What is causing that?
You are over the power range.. Motor is losing power past that rpm. I hope you are not reving to 6500 without a load on the engine though, because that sound will change after doing that enough to a nice knocking sound..
When I spun a rod bearing I went to a friends house and he came outside when I pulled up and he said it sounded like i was knocking on the door lol

That's the sound of over revving putting extra stress on the motor for no reason since you're out of the powerband and basically revving that high for no reason at all...stay under 6000
That's the sound of me doing this
@!#$, I try to keep it under 3500 RPM's if possible.
My 3400 does that before it gets to the redline. Other 3400 owners do not report having the problem, even when I asked about it. My problem has gotta be a little valve float, but you can tell that there's less power there when it does it. My solution was just to turn the rev limiter down so that I won't get to that point.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
