Hey Guys,
So, my fuel pump went out last year. I had it replaced. I bought the exact fuel pump for my car.... ONLINE. Okay, all installed just fine, car runs as it supposed to. Recently, when I had my exhaust and header leaks checked, I found fuel was leaking from the fuel filter connection of the fuel pump line.
I checked with Advanced Auto Parts - The fuel pump model # they have is E3507N by AIRTEX. The fuel pump line connection that attaches to my fuel filter is different slightly. As you guys know, our fuel filters have a plastic quick release tab. Well, my stock fuel pump would fit right over this tab and I would lock in the fuel line over the filter using the tab attached to the fuel line. This fuel pump's connection to the fuel filter is smaller and I had to take of the quick release tab for it to slide over my fuel filter. Now, this fuel pump was installed by a mechanic. I don't know if it was leaking from back then or just recently. Here are some pictures:

http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k516/02ecotecimportkiller/FuelPumpLine3.jpg - I believe this picture shows an o-ring on the fuel filter. I put one on there just to see if that would help.. No it didn't!
When I looked at the AIRTEX fuel pump in Advanced, I noticed the orange O-RING just about an inch inside the fuel pump line. My fuel pump line didn't have an O-Ring. I was like, OK problem solved. I guess it came out or whatever. I bought several size O-Rings and found the one that fit. As you can see from the pictures, there is a seat inside the fuel pump line where an O-Ring would sit. I have been playing with different size thickness O rings (1mm to 2mm) and it still freakin leaks. Basically, my fuel pump isn't 100 % exactly like my stock fuel pump due to the slight difference in diameter of the fuel pump line where it connects to my fuel filter.
I took my fuel filter to Advanced, and used the AIRTEX fuel pump to clamp on the fuel filter with the quick release tab and it fits just fine and doesn't move once locked into place. This is the right fuel pump. What I have I don't know.
How do I fix this please? I appreciate it guys!

by pump, you mean filter, and you have to have the quick connect on there for it to not leak.
No I mean Fuel Line from Pump to Filter. I cannot slip the plastic fuel line over the fuel filter with the quick disconnect.

The line with the green tab. Even though I lock the green tab over the fuel filter it still leaks. Again, its just not big enough to go on the fuel filter with the quick disconnect plastic tab on.

the green latch has to come almost all the way out. also are you sure you have the correct filter? i recall mine taking about 5 minutes to do.
I thought it might, but I didn't want to pull it any further out than it was already (don't want to ruin it). Even 2001 models use the same filter and I checked all the filters at Advanced when I was in there. They have about 4 different ones and they were all the same. So, should I try to pry out the green tab as much as possible? Its still going to be a tight fit!

try to get it out as far as possible. then it should snap in.
Sounds good. Will try tomorrow. Thanks BuiltNBoosted

Do you have the orginal pump assembly from your car?

The green tab replaces the white/blueish QD on the pump, that pump looks similar to a late model N body. If you remove the green tab, then the normal White/Blue QD will fit in.
No, I did not keep the original Fuel Pump. How come the OE fuel pump for my car also has a green tab? If I remove the green tab, with the QD in place it will hold the fuel line on the fuel filter? If my OE fuel pump has a green tab also, then I don't understand why the fuel filters come with a QD, unless they are supposed to be taken off anyway?

Different designs, green tab is newer, that's all
Hmm. I've never used the white part of those filters lol. If it was me. I would just break down and get the airtex pump. That's what I have and I've had zero issues at all.
I've never replaced my fuel filter myself, so I have no idea if on the stock fuel pump the QD tab was taken off the fuel filter or not. I only know it wasn't on the fuel filter with this fuel pump. The pump I bought was a "direct" replacement of the AIRTEX E3507N Fuel pump... I have not tried to pry off the green tab as of yet to see if the QD will fit inside the fuel pump line as Ender_Wiggin has suggested. There must be a way to fix this before having to buy a new fuel pump and pay for labor... I've been laid off of work for the past two months slocav so keeping my money in the bank till I find a job. Now, I did check the leak with the O-RING I placed inside the fuel pump line and leaks a little, not like before. Problem half solved I guess.

ok its bugging the @!#$ out of me, are you meaning fuel pump or fuel filter?
Every fuel filter I have ever bought for a J has come with that tab. I have also never used it or needed it. This does not mean you can't use it, just my experience.
Worse case cut off that connection joint and use fuel pressure hose and hose clamps. Problem sholved.

The filter doesnt look far enough in, or that end doesn't support a QD on the filter. The green clip should be able to be moved up to clear the "tab" in that 3rd photo. I guess with not being at the car it's hard to see why it's not fitting, but I'm surprised you're having so much of a problem.
I think that end doesn't support a QD. I know I cant use the green clip once the QD is on the filter as there is no room to slide it in. The car won't even start I'm leaking that much fuel. It worked a lot better with a FRAM fuel filter and the green clip on. With the PUROLATOR filter and the green clip on, it leaked more. Makes no sense as both filters look identical. I'll keep playing with it before I decide to cut that end off and use fuel hose.

I'd advise not to use a hose unless it's the high pressure type. There are repair kits out there too for "broken" fittings, I'd bring a filter up and see if you can it to fit one of those.
Thanks Ender_Wiggin. Ill look into the repair kit.

Went to Advanced Auto parts and had them pull out the AIRTEX E3507M fuel pump. The main and only difference is the green tab connection to fuel filter fits much more snug onto the fuel filter than my connection does. The AIRTEX also has a seal like mine at the top of the connector but tapers down, whereas mine doesn't. So basically, my connector isn't snug enough and the plastic is molded (heated) onto these connectors as I thought about just replacing the plastic connector. I'm screwed.

Cut it off and use fuel pressure hose. I had to do this on my 97 Sunfire recently.

Did you use a metal barb fitting or just the hose and clamp on both ends? I think the fuel hose is my only option.

Same with my 95 cavi...quick connect leaked so i cut it, put high pressure hose....hose clamps on both ends...but i flared the fuel line i cut so the hose wont come off
