I need you guys to clear me up on a few things, if you don't mind. I have the opportunity to get an '89 cavalier for next to nothing. It's got the 2.0 (I'm assuming the ohv?) with a blown head gasket. It's a 5sp. car. I was thinking about putting a 94 2.2 in its place and be done with it. I am assuming I will need the ecu and wiring harness, but will my current tranny work? I searched, but I didn't find any concrete answers. Thanks for any help.
How do I determine it's the ohc or ohv? I don't have the car yet, so I can't just pull the valve cover. Someone want to verify that I have to use the 2.2 ecu and wiring harness?
it should say on the valve cover,it will be just as easy and probably as cheap to swap in a 3.1 as it is a 2.2 but that depends on if the mounts are the same
wicked
Ok guys, I popped went and popped the hood, and there is NO identification on the valve cover. Just by looking at it, I would guess that it's an ohv, but im not sure. Any body got pics of an ohv and an ohc?
were do you put the oil usaly ohv uses an oil filler neck and in an ohc it would be put straight into the valve cover. also if you con see the timing chain if it extends to the head it would be ohc.
if it's a cav it's gonna be a OHV car anyway the OHC is only in the bird.
