2.2 AFPR?
Tuesday, November 01, 2005 7:55 PM
I'm looking for an AFPR for my 1990 MPFI 2.2 car. I see a bunch of billet splice-in regulators on Ebay, but I'd like a more stockish looking piece for racing reasons.

Anyone have links for 2.2 AFPRs?

Several LT1 FPRs will bolt on. Go to V6Z24 and look in the General FAQ in the General Forum for more info.

Thanks for the tip on the LT1 AFPR. Maybe I'm totally blind, but I cannot find anything about FPRs on the site you mentioned though... ?

This is what the LT1 regulator looks like.

If you have a spare stock regulator you can modify it to be adjustable. I'm not sure the work is worth it unless class rules prevent you from using an aftermarket part. The trick is finding the clamp to hold the upper and lower portions of the regulator together.

The setup above is good down to 30-35 psi. I had to modify mine to get it to reduce pressure below 35 psi. I cut some coils off the spring from my stock regulator to allow pressure to drop as low as 14psi.

The part numbers in the picture are from TPIS. They also sell just the "hat" (the cover with adjusting screw) as part number 100-023. Other companies may have similar parts for less $$.

Link to FAQ

I have an Accel FPR. I think I paid maybe $45 for it. I got it from www. fulein.com, but I guess they're no longer around.

Hey James Cahill, you seem to know your stuff really well so I gotta question for you... At this link: http://www.j-body.org/faq/11/27/ they are talking about a fuel pump upgrade, and list some pumps for other vehicles... will they work on the 2.2 or are they talking about only for the V6s? Im guessing the fuel pump is the same in all the J's but im not sure!

That swap will work for all Js regardless of engine. Or you can pick up a Walbro 225gph (IIRC) if you really want to get into it.
