hi all, I was thinking about getting a tach gauge and such for my 2.2 3 speed auto 94 cavalier, but .... welll I thought I would ask here first to see if there is any way to just go to a junk yard and jack a 3.1 or 2.2 manuals gauges / dash and just plugging that in.

Not sure about the 94, but the 91 I had long ago, I swapped in a cluster from a 92 that had a tach. It gave me a trip odometer as well. Worked rather well too. So Im guessing that the 94 since it was the similar design will work.
The 6cyl set won't work, but the 4 cyl one should. All the wiring is there, it just may need to be repinned at the ECM or cluster.
they will all swap between the 91-94 cars.
the 6cyl one will work it will just read wrong... there are some 4 cyl cars out there with the tach cluster this is what you need to find.
its not necessarily auto/manual difference its just what options the car had.
all 6cyls had the tach cluster, a few 4 cyl did, good luck finding one,.. sometimes they show up on ebay.
Dang, just got back from junk yard and I could only find a 3.1 with a tach. :0( I guess I will just have to wait. Thanks guys.

the v6 tach will work i have one in my 93 all ya gota do is change a resistor and its plug and play

My '90 Cav CL with a 3.1 didn't. And it's a 5 speed, too. I thought it was rather strange that it didn't, oh well. And I was too impatient to hunt one down, so I just bought an aftermarket one and hung it from the underside of the dash just to the right of my speedo. It partially covers the idiot lights on the right hand side. Well, just the check-engine light is blocked.
