Hello again, I've got another question, So now that I've got all new emission stuff, I'd figure it'd be good to change the fuel filter, because like everything else on my car it's probably been neglected with previous owners. I got the filter, but I'm not sure how to put it on or where it is, can someone help me locate it? Do I need any special tools? I've got the 2.0 OHC TBI motor, it's a 1991 Sunbird. Thanks!
your fuel filter is located towards the rear of your car behind the gastank, its a inline filter. becarefull though if it hasnt been change for quite sometime you will have a chance of the lines being rusted then twisting when you wrench them off. Fuel is the one thing i don't mess with....
those maintence stuff like that will make a world of a difference
good luck... my opinion is to take that at least to a shop and have it done...

Well, it is a western car, and whenever anyone looks at it, I get compliments on how good of shape it's in, when i got it safetied, my mechanic told me how easy it was to open the bleeder valves on the brakes, so I don't think it'll be in horrible condition.
^^well thats good then.. good luck^^

so that means the cars gotta be on a lift to do it then? hmmm... anyone got a lift handy? lol
no just back it onto some ramps or jack it up. the fuel filter is right above the rear axel. Its probably the easiest thing to replace on the entire car. if you have made a post and worried about changing it, stay away from any sort of tools, you suck and will probably hurt yourself or car.
I'm not really worried about changing it
Like I said. Fuel is one thing I don't mess with..esp. if you don't really know whats going on.. no offence.

or you cold do like i did and just buy it all new, mine was so rusted and corroded that i had to replace the sending unit all the gas lines filter. and on a side note the rubber hose that is atached to the filter and the gas tank if you replace it, it is a dealer only part and will run you about $120.00 or so. i just cut the ends off and put new ones on.
but good luck with all that.
remember when changing it to pull the fuel pump fuse and start the car let all the fuel in the lines be pumped out... the pump keeps some pressure in the lines to keep the lines from bulging and collapsing from a sudden stop... you will still get a mouth full of fuel but if you do not do this you will have a lot more fuel coming at you..... put the filter on put the fuse back in and your on your way. not a hard job but your girl might consider not hugging you after words haha
Its a new cologne, eau de 87 octane haha. 5/8 and a 13/16 wrrench or equivalent will do the trick, make sure to spray the fittings down too
lmao
yeah that would work too
Oh wow!!! I just checked out my underbody a minute ago, I LOVE cars from Edmonton!!! there is no rust anywhere that I saw, and it's a 1991!!! I also found the fuel filter, and the fittings look to be in pretty good shape. Anyone around in the Ottawa, Canada region and have some axle stands I could borrow for an hour or so?
