im not to happy about this. i just put a junk yard engine in a 1993 cav and it ran grate for about 45 min then is started pushing oil out of the filter.. so i run to advanced and double check the filter # and got a new one just to make sure that wasn't it.. still pushes oil out of the filter base at the bottom.. and not just a little it will push all 4-5 qt's in less than 2 min..steady stream.. im thinking there is some kind of bypass valve or something and maby it's clogged up..i don't know but im vary aggravated with this thing right now..any help would be appreciated..thanks Chris
Is it leaking where the filter screws on at? If so make sure that the gasket on the old filter came off and isn't still stuck on there with the new filter because that will make it leak. Also make sure that it isn't the oil filter adapter itself leaking. It has a gasket between it and the block.

I think he's talking about the air filter.
If its that bad you have a damaged ring or a couple of them.
what was the part number
if the filter wasnt
Purolater
PL10111
(im not sure the fram number... but fram sucks so don't ever go that route)
its the air filter...
however could air filter even get oil?? ...the return line on the valve cover is near the throttle and the vaccum should suck the oil in to the throttle and not the other direction to the filter...
now for the oil filter...
Check for double gasket... im kinda thinkin against that cause of ure symptoms though...
you may have loosened the stud that goes in to the oil filter... try to tighten that up...
and i cant think of the delco number... but thats better than purolator... i just now remembered advance carries delco
im not to sure where air filter got put into the conversation. it's the oil filter.. yes im using the perilateor pl10111 it is not double gaskited becose i checked.. also there is no adapter i checked out the old block and it is molded into the block.. im thinking that there is some kind of pressure relief valve in the oil pump that's clogged up.. thanks Chris
I would say check the oil pressure guage... but if ure 93 is like mine, it doesnt have one stock... you may wanna look in to getting one...
ac delco filters as follows.... the small one pf47 the biger/longer one is pf57
**changes are here**
There is a pressure relief valve in the pump. If you have the pump from the factory (as in, never been changed) its set for 80lbs. The 94+ pumps are 64lbs.
If your car is idling and there is a steady stream of oil coming out from in between the filter and the block, it could be one of several problems. My first guess wouldn't be the pump, it would be the check valve between the block and the filter. There is a little valve next to the threaded nipple for the filter so oil doesn't backdrain into the filter after shut down. If its stuck closed, the oil has no place to go after coming into the filter, but out the the next weakest point- the gasket.
