im going to the junk yard tomorrow, to get my new head that imma send to the machine shop to get port and polished....
does anyone know the answer to this... in 1994, the year before the third gen body started, the second gen (which is in 1994-1997 J bodies) version of the 2.2 litre engine started... while from the outside these motors look the same... the motor gained 10 HP ... is that 10 HP from the top end or the bottom end.... if its from the head... i dont want a head older than 94.... if its from the block... it doesnt matter which head i get...
second question...
whats the difference between the 2.2 (91 - 97) and the 2200 (98-02) ... i've always been under the assumption the block was the same but the head/valvecover/manifolds were different... if this is true.... wouldn't a head from a 2200 bolt on to my block and give me better performance?
yes i got ure call... =P
that was like an hour long phone call... but i got direction now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wish me luck at the junk yard tomorrow

1) the extra 10 hp is in the cam gear... so bottom end of the motor....
2) 91 - TBI... dont want that cause i have Multi-port fuel setup - 92-97 heads are the same... 98-02 will bolt up but with the throttle body that goes with it, it will not physically fit in the engine bay of a second gen...
what about adding a cowl to your hood? would that make it fit?
James was tellin me its was either the internal air fan or brake booster that got in the way...
he couldnt remember which...
ok, so i guess i cowl wouldn't make that fit, but if someone could make a cowl to make it fit, i'd love to see it! lol
