Some strange quirk in reality is slowly killing my car (89 Cav 2.0L OHV TBI)... and leaking coolant into the environment...
The other day I was sitting idling and suddenly the strange smell of coolant... followed by my heat not being there on the highway... At first I was bitting my nails thinking it was the radiator.. so I opened the hood...nope... some sort of freak failure in my upper radiator hose (that is the name for the one between the radiator and water pump right?)
So I went to Canadian tire.(by bus don't worry I don't despise my car that much) and picked up the part... got home and it turns out it was the wrong hose... several skinned nuckles later... I tried 2 other locations and they tried to sell me the same hose.. The connection to the radiator is the right size on the wrong hose but my water pump end has a much wider opening...
but I've noticed other inconsistencies between my engine and it's maintenance diagrams... That is that my air cleaner assembly resembles that which you would expect on the Multipoint injection version... with a rectangular filter located in a box housing by the inlet which is at the front left of the engine bay...
Should I maybe ask for the hose for a 94 cavalier? or is it Canadian tire that has the wrong part numbers or do I have the wrong part name? Or is my engine an ingenius bodge job of older and newer?
Why not take the old one in and do a comparison between it and ones from other years?
