any motor that can go into a j-body will swap in, just depends on the work you wanna do.
best swap out there is a 3400. basicly you need to find a v6 parts car and gut everything. rad, wiring, ecm, tranny, axels, ect, grab a 3400 and swap it all in.
the other option is a 2.0l turbo, but you dont want to go that route.
3.1 from a Z24 is the easiest swap. You need the motor, transmission, motor mounts, ECM, and fuel pump...2.8 is the same way, 3400 requires a bit more work...
If you wanna do sumtin big and don't care how much work it is i would say go with a 3800 s/c engine.....money is the thing though it aint cheap unless you got a parts car...like the s/c 3800 in a newer Grand Am would kick ass in a jbod
89sunbird- the 3.1 is the most likely one that i will do. that what i was hopin for when i made the post. i have a 90 beretta gt sittin at the house. that will work for the car correct? where can i get complete step by step instructions for the 3.1 swap with a 5speed swap as well. i just wanna get into the low 15's at least and the 2.0 isnt gonna do that unless it gets turbo'd, but everyone does the turbo swap.
-big will- i wish i would have known that before, just got rid of a 97 GTP, 3800 SC. (my dad owns an impound lot) and we junked the car. lol
