Side Effects of filpping the outer tie rod end...

So anyone who has had some time to experiment with their suspension, can you think of any side effects of flipping the outer tie-rod ends upside down??? i know i would need to get an alignment but that is the least of my concerns........

???

Well, the car doesn't drive well on it's roof.

Same as above, really, tapered holes and all. Also check for excessive angles between tie rod and tapered shaft connecting to strut. Otherwise I haven't thought much about it.

bump steer is a bitch. when you flip the tie rod, you change the ark (due to the length difference), and the tie rod must follow the same ark as the control arm.

ARe you reffering to mounting it to the bottom of the arm? Juicedz4 and I both have this done to our heavily modifed suspensions. It required lowering it via a special adaptor block on the steering rack. With the new setup, we can now shim it in any direction to tweak the steering angle. Even without shimming it in any particular way, it halfed the measurable amount of bump steer. Dan made a gauge for measuring it. Check for his post on v6z24.com he has pics of the setup and of the gauge.
I have jack for pics of my front suspension assembled unfortunatly. I'm lame, I rushed to reassemble and forgot to take final pics haha. Dan has a bunch in his gallery at http://www.clubhousecustoms.com

dropping the steering rack is deffinitly needed to make sure the tie rod has the same arc as the control arm. i know about shimming and how to tune bump steer, and how it can help in a cars handling.

now im pretty sure with your modded suspention, you are aiming for about 3" of suspention travel total (2" compression, 1" extention) like most high performance stuff, so with that little bit of bumpsteer you have helps with handling. with justins (sinbirds) car, he has about 8" of suspention travel with the airbags, so that little bit of bumpsteer turns into massive toe issues on both extremes of the rideheight. keepinh the bumpsteer down is a nessesary thing.
