alright so i decided to go ahead and tune my car up. i knew it was sounding just a little rough and figured it might need it by now. the guy i bought it from back in december said he gave it regular maintenance. car ran good and all. ive changed the oil and so on. i start on plug 1 and look at the wires.... something odd about them. no brand i ever heard of.... a little closer inspection reveals that my plug wires are factory wires. 17 years old and at 137.000 miles they still worked. i was mildly amused/shocked/ and then saddened at the loss in fuel economy i didnt even think about.
