Hi, i am told my lower control arm bushings are almost shot( toast, lol)
So i am wondering when you buy polyurathane control arm bushings in the set from say jbody performnace($ 44.00) or who ever; what does this kit come with; what bushings, and how many?
How many bushings are there for the lower control arms?
And what difference if any is there by useing polyurathane bushings versus oem ones?????
Thanks very much............

get them form Carcustoms.net Karo has the bes prices on them. You know how motor mounts work correct? Stock vs. Aftermarket. The aftermarket stuff is firmer, doesn't flex nearly as much, on the contolr arms it helps nadling slightly wince he arms will move les sunder stress as well as reduce wheel hop. They are deffinetly worth it. Cheap mod and a good one. there are 2 bushings for each arm. Total there is 1 big bushing and 2 small bushings and 2 metal inserts int he middle. Get the old ones pressed out, press in the big bushing, the middle metal sleave will slide right in, the smaller bushings are 2 piece one goes in from each side and the metal sleeve slides right in by hand.
Okay i am a little confused, dont take much for me, sorry excuse my ignorance on this suspension stuff, lol.
So you say there are two bushings for each side of the control arm, but you say in total there are 1 big bushing, 2 small bushings, and two metal inserts; so is that in total?
OR is that for each side, so really there is 1 large bushing, 2 small, and 2 metal inserts for each side with a total of 3 bushings , 2 inserts for each side, with a total of 6 bushings, 4 metal inserts?????
I am, so confused...............

does it really matter? buy the bushing kit it comes with everythign you need, installing it is blatently obvious while your lookingat the new bushings
^Not terribly helpful/clear, but correct.
Stock comes with 2 bushings per side. The metal is formed in with the rubber so it's one piece.
The aftermaket ones are made slightly differently. The front bushing is two pieces plus a metal insert; the rear is one piece plus a metal insert. It comes as a kit, so you don't have to worry about ordering single parts here and there.
deff recomend them great buy love em! and very easy to install big hamer and hand tools will "get er done"
i just bought them for my 2nd cav
Oh okay; so the big large bushings are for the rear, and the 4 smaller ones are for the front lower control arms????? or is theb whole kit for the front, upper and lower?
I just want to know so i can get prices on labour from places and know exactally what they will be installing and where
Thanks everyone.............

You only have one set of control arms.
The bushing that is closest to the front of the vehicle is actually a 2 piece bushing that you press together. The rear is a single large bushing you must press in. Then, metal sleeves are pressed through the center opening of the bushing.
This may be easier to understand. Here is the control arm bushing set:
Here is them installed in a control arm:
I also reccommend you drill out your balljoint rivets while you are doing these. It will make them easier to deal with if/when you need to replace your balljoints.
Awesome thanks very much everyone and exspecially "muffin" you made me finally understand, lol, pics are great, thanks very much, appreciate the help alot.
