I have searched the org. but don't understand, so i need someone to explain this to me like i am a 2 year old. I have tokico struts all around and since iput them in i have asqueeking noise coming from thefront whn i go over speedbumps or any big holes at slow speeds. So i searched around and someone said that with the d-psecs you need to add spacers to the nuts they give you? where and how? Because the noise bugs me to death. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Fill in your car in your profile.
If you have an 00+ then you need spacers or a few washers on the top nut of the strut. The big one in the center.
This is because the 00+ strut mounts are slightly skinnier than the 99-
so 95-99 u dont need to add these spacers?
and as i rember it goes cut off stock top shaft nut on the front struts, use non threaded part of the nut as a spacer between the nut they(tokico) supply and the strut mount.

thanks i figured it out however i still have a noise i ordered new spring insulators the factories were pretty shot on the bottom the tops were perfect. Could it be the spring grinding on the strut? Sorry it's an 02. Should i look for anything else, i checked ball joints and tierods all were fine.
Beer: 95-99 don't need the space. Good luck cutting that thing off. They don't supply the mount.
Steven: What kind of sound is it?
its a creaking noise like the strut rubbing on metal. I am almost positive its the insulators. But i may be wrong.
probably bad strut mounts
i have the same noise... its either my tire rubbing metal in the wheel well b cuz i have 235/45/17's instead of 225/45/17's or the lower insulators that r shot. i've heard this since i put in brand new mounts on all 4 corners with the d-specs and sportlines
if its bad strut mounts i'm pissed because there brand new! Just ordered new insulators from chevy only $13 so lets hope this works. The washer trick didn't work maybe its only for d-specs.
if it makes noises like that when you go over bumps, its usually the mounts
oh i didnt notice he said over speedbumps. mine makes the noise when i turn the wheel.... i'd say mounts too
well contrary to popular beliefits not the mounts. I just replaced the insulators an guess what still there. So you ask how iknow its no te mounts? when i had the strut assembly out, i moved the brake/rotor assembly up and down and there it was i got it to make the noise i little knock didn't do it everytime but 2-3 times. My buddy at work saidit maybe the swaybar bushings or control arm bushings. also it dosn'tdo it over evry bump just speedbumps in my complex and it has to be the right speed. never any other time. so any other ideas? I wanna drive it off a cliff at this point.
