I've been doing a lot of research lately on my endless search to get better brakes that will fit under the stock 16's. Better than powerslot/hawk, etc.
My question is, if the price were reasonable (read, probably just slightly less than a normal big brake kit), and I could marginally get it to fit under the stock 16's, who would purchase it? This might be beneficial to see if wilwood will produce this and me to do more research. Rotor size would either be 11.00 or 11.75, using 1.38 bore 4 piston calipers. The dynapro kit thats currently offered by wilwood uses 12.19 rotors and 1.50 bore calipers. It wouldn't be as good as the dynapro kit, but would surely be better than stock 10.2" single piston.
Lemme know.

the problem with the 00-02 Z24 rims is that the lip of the spoke is inset too far and will catch on the front face of the caliper. the 95-99 16" wheels dont have this problem but there can still be clearance issues.
there are lots of good brake kits out there for cavaliers already, stock rotor replacements, modest size upgrades (wilwood) and larger upgrades (baer), and economical brake upgrades (rsm - anyone who's talked to me already knows my opinion of this kit)
your market for a product would be owners of cavaliers with stock wheels that want a brake rotor size and caliper upgrade.
the problem with designing a kit will be increasing the rotor size while maintaining a caliper that will clear the 00-02 16" rims. kits already exist that will clear the 95-99 rim.
if you were able to build a kit like this that worked and was quality (we are talking brakes here afterall) you might be able to sell it to a few people.. otherwise it sounds like a DIY project.

yea, i been thinking about this for about 5 years now, on and off. the only kit i've ever seen that fits the 99- rims is the RSM kit, so what other kits are there?

to add to that, ^ that fit the stock rims (with no huge spacers). none besides rsm, and thats barely limited to 95-99.

If I'm not mistaken, Dan Cotter is running 16s on his car with Wilwood pieces. Its not a kit, he just built the caliper bracket from flat steel and bolted on the Wilwood caliper and rotor.
yes, but not stock 16's (it'd hit the spokes).

I love to get willwood on teh front, but I also want to keep the the 04 LS Rims.
I want the car to look completly stock for the WOW factor, and RIMs would be something someone sees right away.

I may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
is there a kit out there or a rotor/caliper combo that i can fit behind 91+ Z24 15's i know 92-05 the front rotors are the same and they need at least 14" wheels, im looking so the smallest i can fit is 15" wheels
radially, the dynapro kit already out fits some aftermarket 16s, but no 15's. what I'm thinking of will fit aftermarket 15s (drag wheels, etc).
cavie freak, for the rear you can do a 10.6" neon rear setup or a 12" baer/camaro rear setup that fits 16's.

my rear 12" baer copies fit the stock 16's and 15" aluminum rims
the current wilwood kit would require about 1/2" to 3/4" spacer to clear the spokes , making the tires stick out some
the smaller wildood calipers might clear
but in alreality youll prob want to use the grand am alero fronts , i think they are 10.5 or 11 , but you gotta use the outter axle piece for the larger hub and redrill the hubs and rotors to fit 5x100
and on the grand am's you can upgrade to the 12" W-body and use the single piston caliper
What brake kits fit stock 95-99 Sunfire GT wheels if any?
none. HENCE THE REASON FOR THIS POST.

yea its the caliper thats the problem, i could run a 15 inch rim if it had enough spoke clearance

Gotcha, i thought it said some would clear the 95-99 Cav wheels...
So for a Recap, I am still confused
What will fit with what on Stock LS 16's?
Front: nothing
Rear: neon rear disc conversion, n-body independent suspension, and 12" baer rear conversion.
On a new note, I've noticed that an 11" rotor w/ the powerlite caliper might just work. It'll be close, but it could work. a small spacer might be needed. using an undrilled 6 bolt hat, you could drill yourself a custom 5x100 hat and drill out the center hole to fit the jbody hub. you will also need to do a custom bracket to hold the caliper in place.
The only problem with this is that the conversion will be rather expensive, probably just as much as buying the original dynapro plain face kit. if you used a different caliper and 11.75 rotor, you could cut it down by 200 bucks, but then you would never fit it under the stock 16" rim. The only point to this conversion would be if you want better brakes (not as good as the full dynapro kit though) that would also look better. the option for the srp drilled rotors is also there. Just one of those little things in the persuit of making your jbody the best it can be. It would also probably fit 15" drag wheels.

i just found some rotors that would cut the cost down of this conversion by 250 bucks, so i'm pretty excited. only thing needed to the rotors would need to be redrilled to 5x100, but the hub bore matches and everything.
