I am a novice at air suspension but really am thinking of going to an air suspension system but don't like the idea of hearing a compressor running.
Has anyone put their compressor in the spare tire area and then cover it while having the spare tire in the trunk with the tanks?
Being new to this maybe that is a bad idea just wanted your opinions.
Thanks
pretty much, unless you put it in a sound proof box, your going to hear it.
The best way to go is to put either dynamat (or similar) under neat where you mount it, or use rubber/urethane washers/spacers to help keep the metal on metal vibration down. They are loud, but there are ways you can keep the sound down.

Honestly I wouldnt! The compressors get very hot very fast! They need to be able to breathe. If you dont want to hear it then mount it under the car.

I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has mounted the compressor under the trunk area? At least it would be cool and quiet for me there.
yes you can mount it outside the trunk which is very good but the leader hose on the compresor is not long enough. if you mount on the inside of the trunk and want to keep the sound down your best way about it is to mount it on like mdf with a like 1/4 rubber on the mounting point and it will be really quite. hope that explained a little more for you.
Can you explain MDF?
So the vibration is where some or most of the noise is coming from?
mdf = medium density fiber wood
used mostly to build sub boxes(or should be)
i use nothing but MDF in my cr, wether its for a box, or anything i need to use wood for
its especially nice to use with fiberglassing since it soaks in the resin more than other woods
yea they explained it but between that and a piece of rubber it would take most of the noise out of it. what alot of people hear is the vibration of the compressor if you have it mounted like said and really tight you will just barely hear it. i knew how to make it quite but i was lazy and was one of the many with a loud compressor because mine was mounted on a metal bracket welded to the tank and touching the trunk floor heres a pic of what i started.
mine dont bother me in the trunk....and i have 4 of em
i put all the relays under the piece there mounted on....and my BIGRED valves are in the spare tire well ........oh and i also have three tanks in my backseat
