well simply i am asking has anyone bought any drilled and slotted rotors from ebay? And are they any good? I am asking because the price seems to be so cheap, is it cause of the quality and becaue they tend to rust and not stay silver?

No just no. Brakes are just the parts where saveing money should not be a concern. buy stock or buy brand name. me i run bear decela's and hawk pads.

I will admit, I bought a set off ebay.

1 year, 27k miles, no problems except for excessive surface rust, but nothing some high temp paint didn't fix.

I picked up a set of drilled and slotted rotors on eBay from CQence Motorsports, along with ceramic pads. The rotors sold for $69.99 USD for a front set, which is quite a bit less than they advertise on their website. Pads were extra -- I forget how much, but it was reasonable. Interestingly enough, I just went to check their current eBay offerings and they seem to have currently stopped eBay sales -- probably not the best of signs. I got the brakes installed almost two months ago now, and probably only have about 1000 kms on them at this point.

What I got:

What I have now -- a pathetic amount of rust already:

I'm happy with the performance and feel of them. At first I thought they were a tad spongy, but I've come to see it as a luxurious feel, rather like I was driving a newer Caddy. They definitely have ultimate stopping power, and I can get the car held up far better than with the stock rotors and pads. No sign of warping yet. It's just a shame they're rusting so quickly. I guess I'll have to wait and see if they last.

you painted the surface face of the rotors?? i was interested in doing that, but figured it wouldnt be healthy for the brakes. hmmm...

wonder if you can powdercoat them.

most ebay rotors are oem rotors that are slotted and drilled. Other than tires brakes are the second most importan system on your car. Don't cheap out. I've got powerslots with brembo sport pads and love it.

The rotors in the pics I posted were "zinc coated".

Probably.

I also painted the EBC rear rotors I picked up since the zinc coating was starting to oxidize and turn white.

Phewes painted his Baer rear rotors.

Real concern is the pads, but any residual paint on the pads will burn off real quick.

I think I'm going to try these ATE rotors out next time (about $80 from tire rack):

I'd trust them any day over some ebay crap.

I have a set of drilled slotted rotors from an eBay store called GripForce...I called them before I bought them to confirm they were a legit business...I've had the full set on my GP for 2 years and over 50k miles. They show a bit of surface rust when its parked on the rotor face (any rotor does that) but nowhere else. I ran AutoZones DuraLast Gold Pads and the stopping power is phenomenal...best $180 I ever spent on the car.
