Suspension damping: ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Wednesday, May 23, 2007 4:55 PM
I currently have a 95/01 cavy with koni yellows and Ground Control adjustable springs.

I was wondering if there's anyhthing on the market that can dampen the ride of the car on top of my shocks/springs.

Also, Because of the way it's set up, I don't have the nylon based boot that goes between the struts and strut tower. Makes an annoying clicking noise.

Any solutions?
THANKS!

You mean you want a softer ride with that setup? Change your spring rates, but you will probably have to switch to Koni reds so you don't bottom out.

I would normally consider "more dampening" to be "more strut resistance to spring movement". Is it that you find your ride is bouncier than you'd like? Or is it that you just want a firmer ride overall? Both of these adjustments should be something you can dial into the yellows and Ground Controls. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're after.

If you have top-of-the-line adjustable struts like the yellows in place already, adjusted them accordingly, and you still need more dampening, then I'm rather at a loss. If the struts themselves aren't somehow blown or defective, then maybe you need to do some fabrication and create a custom setup that uses two struts at each wheel?

oh hahah just wondering really.

For example, Nismo 350Z has dampeners for body torque.

Just asking on differnt ride/handling solutions really.

Apart from adjusting teh springs and struts.

i have my yellows set at the softest possible setting with sportlines and it rides pretty stiff. i only have skunk2 coilovers and stock struts to compare to (aftermarket wise) and ill tell you they are a freakn NIGHT AND DAY difference to them, but for ride quality i would have to say stock would be the best. i really miss the way it rode stock, nice n smooth, no bounces or rough road transitions etc.

idk if i even want to see how rough it will be on the firmest setting....

absolutely. The corners I was carving was RIDICULOUS!

LOL

It's the harshness of the bumps I want to see if I can remove.

the "clunking" I'm sure every cavi owner experiences.

Also looking into things that can deaden road noise, sound insulation, etc.
