As some you read, my bear rotors, went to crap after to years.
thanks again to Turbo Tech Racing for getting me replacements.
As I was getting new discs, i needed new pads. the current bear rotor policy is to maintain warrenty you have to use their pads. Which of course were a pain in a butt to find. And were listed under 2001 sunfire, but no listed in the same range for a cavalier.
So I pm'd aaron and he found a few (pads) in stock, but wasnt sure. I side i'll try anyways, and so I got the hook up. Their not cheap.
Since I was doing the brakes anyways, I checked the prices on calipers and replaces those as well. along with new pins, and a well needed fluid change.
Anyways:
Review of the Baer SPORT TOURING BRAKE PADS W/ Baer Slotted/Drilled - Plated - Decela Rotors Cavalier/Sunfire.
Disks as always look great new, nice plated, etc etc,
Pads came in the fanicest wrapper i've seen for pads ever, inside the box, they were shrink wrapped to a backing card board to keep them in place.
Performance: I had hawk hps pads before, and they bit hard and quick. The Bear pads have much less inital bit, with a very linear build up, until a point. When you start to really push them they grab like theres no tommorow..
Right now this is for just daily driving... If you not paying attention and forget to start slowing down, hang out, because they will clamp down and STOP. I think in a very spirited mood this might be a bit less sudden, since you'd be looking for stopping power, and it is controlable, its just massive.
So compared to the hawks again, softer initail bite, with a nice linear range, and aggressive but progressive finish. Where as I thought the hawk pads where almost too on all the time.
biggest bonus, all this stopping power and near silent braking. The hawks you could hear as they were an aggressive pad, these being ceramic, are just silent, a great bonus for a daily driver.
