I got stuck in the snow today, damn SUV driver who cut me off made me lose my momentum
I finally got out of the 8-10 inch of snow but about a minute later I have noticed that my steering wheel is hard to turn. My car is lowered with a pro kit and dspec so it is not too low. I checked out the power steering fluid and it was a little low and added some. I let the car run for a while but the steering effort is still hard. Any ideas? you guys think the pump is toast? I do remember sometimes the steering gets hard when I park but I thought it was normal. I am still at work and have no time to see if there is any leaks, I'll probably check in the morning.
Thanks ,
Olie
i think i've had trouble turnin in the snow before. you may have got some snow packed under your car. or the fluid got really cold sittin there. i wouldn't think your pump would have went out. any leaks this mornin?

I blew up a PS pump in the snow before.
Make sure there is no snow packed in the wheel wells and try again. Also listen to the pump and watch the fluid while you have someone else turn the wheel. If you dont see any fluid movement or the pump makes some horrible noises, its time for a new pump.
You probably snapped off the drive nub. Pull the power steering pump loose and see if the nub is still attached or stuck in the cam.
I will check PS pump after christmas plus it is still snowing here and I can't drive the car inside the garage as the alley have about a foot of snow. Thanks for your replies guys and have a Happy Holidays!
I pulled the pump today and saw the nub broken, got a new pump and bleed the system and now the power steering is back to normal. I guess the wheel was on full right/left when I got stuck in the snow and snapped the nub. Thanks for some ideas guys!
Mine always broke internally, I never snapped off the hex drive.
