I just have two quick questions, the first is how has everybody else assembled these struts, because on them it says not to use an impact gun to assemble them but thats the only way i know how to do it what other ways could it be done or would it just be ok to use an impact gun? and second the struts with the angled spring plate on it, is the front struts corrrect? Thanks
they are saying dont using an impact gun to put the top nut on the strut mount to hold it to the strut. ive seen people do it before though with no problems. its up to you. ive never used any type of impact gun when doing suspensions and i never had a problem
as far as which is the front and rear, its pretty easy to tell. the front has the knuckle on it and there will be 2 slots on the bottom of the strut for 2 bolts. the rear is just a heim joint which will only have a hole for a single bolt to go through. so basically
2 bolts = front
1 bolt = rear
I use impacts
Shouldnt be a problem, what I do is start the top nut on, and then release some of the spring pressure. This helps keep the strut shaft from spinning with the impact.....which is what you dont want to happen.
As far as the rest, I second, rear has 1 hole at the bottom, front has 2 holes on the side.
Thanks for clearing that up guys, i thought thats how they went but i was just double checking, and perhaps ill just try what you said john and release the spring a little bit sounds reasonable at least lol
