plenty of rotor/pad options!!!
Friday, April 17, 2009 10:59 AM
My car is due for new rotors and pads. Here's what I came up with searching online through diff. stores and brands.
I believe all of these WILL FIT stock calipers etc. Let me know where you got your brakes and what brands have worked well.

ROTORS

EBC Rotors GD7054: $140 (Summit Racing) --- $150 (TTR)

Power Stop Slotted Rotors: $100 (Auto Anything [1st choice]) --- $150 (TTR) --- $130 (Gravana Tuning) --- $146 (Never Enough Auto)

Brembo Slotted Rotors: $150 (Gravana Tuning)

PADS (set on hawk pads, store experience will help)

HAWK Pads: $70 (TTR) --- $65 (Gravana Tuning) --- $77 (Andy's Auto Sport) --- $80 (Never Enough Auto [first choice])

One last thing, I know how to take the brakes off... how should i got about prepping the rotors/pads before installing.

Thanks for the input guys!!

I had baer decela and hawk pads. the rotors cracked.

I then switched to powerslot with hawk pads, and I'm running that same setup on my daily driver. its not bad, but under heavy braking, you get a bit of groaning.

I'm going with EBC rotors/pads for my next setup on my daily 04, and the skwirl.

Powerslot+hawkHPS = good stoppy power

As for prep pre-install?

Nothing really, just be sure to bed them in after the install.

I've used Bear Decela rotors with Hawk HPS pads, nice low cost setup, rotors didn't last, avoid drilled.

I've used Power Slot Cryo treated rotors with Hawk HPS pads (from buybrakes.com) with some SS lines, very nice low cost setup.

I've used Wilwood 12" 4 piston fronts with SSBC 12" single piston rears (from Karo @ carcustoms) with SS lines, expensive but with 235 sticky tires it was like throwing a boat anchor out the window, it didn't slow down, it just stopped right now.

If you are worried about the rep of that site, I can sell you the set of Powerslot rotors for $50/ea + ship. They are selling them with very little profit, so unfortunately I can't beat their price.

Anybody use the brembo rotors? I was looking at those or the Baer but after hearing about the baer's cracking problem i think ill stear clear. Also I'm wondering what rotors will keep their appearance, I've had powerstop rotors on for 4 months now and they look like garbage except for the drilled aspect. They were supposed to be coated with something. Any recommendations are appreciated......
