Hey all. I currently have dspecs with porkit springs waiting to be put on mah car. I'm also getting strut mounts from OEM made with spherical bearings. I have a couple weeks till I'm going to get it all put on but I want to make sure I have absolutly all the parts I need for the guy installing...
I've heard that our cars do not require a camber kit, is this true?
Bumpstops? I have just heard someone mention these and I don't know if I needem or already have them. I would rather buy new then re-use stock if that's the case.
Dust covers? I don't think the dpsecs came with them, Are these needed? What about buying new OEM dust covers?
What about the bolts that are currently holding my current suspension together? Would it be a good idea to replace them while it's being taken apart?
I'm planning on getting the dealer to do all the work. He said it would be a one day in and out job. Only problem is the rate is $250 CAN per axle. So it's going to be a little more expensive then i guestimated to get done. But at least my dealer has done good installation on my previous mods so I can't complain.
Any little bits of information on what you guys wish you had done when the suspension was out or little tips and tricks are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Camber kit: Don't need it.
Bumpstops: We've got em, just need to cut them to a 1/3 of the height.
Dust Covers: A very good idea to lengthen the lifespan of the struts.
Bolts: You will be fine with the stock hardware.
Dealer do it: Really? It's friggen easy to do our suspensions. Get a buddy or two to help you out if you're scared
Also: If you switch to the OEM solid mounts. Depending on your coilover kit, your springs might not be captive at full droop, which means RATTLE RATTLE.
http://www.hypercoils.com sells Helper springs that fix this (CS100) and stacked spring spacers (17DS100) to fix this. It ran me $200-ish inside canada.
I had this problem with Koni Yellows and RKSport (GC) coilovers.
I lot of coilovers have a preload adjustment that'll keep this from happening though.
to answer your question of weather or not new dust boots and bump stops are available...
yup, they most certainly are. kyb makes a full set of replacement everything for the entire strut assembly etc if you'd like it. even the rubber isolation ring etc.
I'm tired of wasting my time... now I'm breakin' free.
Nice. Kyb's kit's would fit my dspecs and oem mounts fine aswell?
Oh and i'm not useing coilovers it's the dspecs from the group purchase that was on a little while ago.

This is really true. If you do it yourself, you just need a floor jack and some basic metric tools (including an Allen or socket head wrench set, a breaker bar and various vice-grip or channel-lock type tools, and an inexpensive spring compressor, a couple of jack stands the like). I did my own in a few hours. You'll need an alignment afterwords, but I took my car to a shop and it was right on and wasn't even charged for a minor toe-in adjustment. Love it when that happens.

Shane, I have
KYB front strut boots and bump stops and Gabriel rear strut boots and GM bump stops all brand new still in the boxes. PM me if you're interested.
^ Scratch that... just sold them. Sorry about that.
Damnit
I am considering buying that 03+ top dash. Does it come with all neccessary ducting or just the one half?
Actually I have someone who wants it already, but if it doesn't work out with them I will let you know. It only comes with the ducting for the two vents in the middle and the one on the passenger side. The duct on the driver's side is the same on all 1995 - 2005 Sunfires.
