Trailing arm bushings.

Anyone know where to get some poly rear bushings?

Also how long for a professional mechanic to install these?

level zero motorsports sells some. i haven't installed mine yet. prob take an hour to do.

^^Hahaha, IF you can get the old ones out that quick.

Generally, The stock bushings are an absolute pain. But I have had some that went easy.

From experience, If you have the axle off the car already, It goes alot smoother.

he asked how long a shop would take. i would think a shop should be able to do it quicker than at home.

no, a shop would not take an hour. not even if the stock bushings were already out.

i used a special snap-on c-clamp just for doing bushings for the steel shaft and physically had to BURN the rest of the rubber out. THEN you take a saw and cut a relief into the shim that is pressed in and just knock it out with a punch.

just doing that took like 4 hours. it is a total nightmare, believe me.

then you add on the time it takes to physically get the axle itself out of the car, um yeah... just getting the ebrake off my car took 3 guys and a whole lot of cuss words.

dont trust LZM whatsoever, they fail at customer service and pretty much screwed a lot of people.

the bushings themselves though are a nice itme. RSM had some available at one time but they have been long gone. i contacted z-spec a couple years ago about getting a set made. they said around $60 a piece.

Please let's not send anyone to Level Zero Motorsports. They have $250USD of mine and 1 other persons money aswell.

Thanks for the warning on install time though. Might put it off for a bit longer.

I left my car with OK tire to replace my passenger-rear trailing arm bushing and 2 hours later it was done.

So 4hrs total is about right.

Here's a decent how to on when I did mine on the 'blu.
It took weeks but only had hand tools at the time of removing the bushings from the axle.
I finally wound up buying a 12 ton shop press to help with removing them the rest of the way and it's paid for itself many times over since I purchased it.

And really, you don't need to change out the bushings because they generally never wear out, they're that good from the factory.
But if you're wanting better performing bushing that don't have the give in them like the stockers, the poly bushings are the way to go.

mine took roughly 2 hours to change.

well worth the $35 that I bought them for (thanks cody!!)

only problem i have is a slight clunk as they don't seem to be quite as wide as the stock units were. going to be shimming them this spring when I get the car back out as the clunk is a bit disconcerting.

from what I can tell, there is a bit of side to side play on the one side where the torsion beam mounts to the unibody. pretty sure that I just need to shim it to make it go away.

Anyone happen to know the diameter and length of the bushing? Id like to see if I can get a set made since it seems that only LZM sells them.

Hmmm. I'm surprised TTR and Car Customs don't make them. There clearly a market for them.

if you know the diameter i'm sure you can get a set from energy suspension. i got my upper mount bushings from them for the swap

i just PMd TTR on here and suggested that they should make them. We'll see where it goes. They make every other bushing for our car so this shouldn't be a problem for them.

pretty sure TTR has already been down the road for these bushings.

there was a large post on here awhile back discussing interest before level zero brought them to market.

LZM is a scab company. They have over $200 of mine from motor mounts (almost a year now with no response), also there are a few other people on here with unresolved purchases/issues. http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=2&i=445096&t=432483&p=16

Hope the best for you .5 FAST CAV. I'd advise you to get your money back through paypal before it's too late. I think they have something like a 6 month rule? If someone could chime in on that.

I dont think paypal will honor it. Its already too late. I believe its 45 days after the transaction is the cutoff.

I'm still waiting for a response from Clay. I've left numerous messages on the phone number that was in my paypal history (778-840-9376). I've also sent numerous emails to both support@levelzeromotorsports.com and sales@levelzeromotorsports.com emails, also from my paypal history. I've also just sent a message through his website through the contact us screen. I hope they get my inquiry.

I ordered the bushings on Nov. 23, 2009. Its now Feb. 23, 2010. I got a hold of Clay on that number after Christmas, and I was told that it was already sent out and probably got lost. He also said that he was having problems with the orders shipping out. He said he would send out another that Thursday. I'm patiently waiting, but I'm growing thin on patience now. I would at least give him more time if he kept on contact with me. At least here or through the info that I have given him. I still want the bushings though, even if they were a measly $45.00. I don't want Clay to think that this is an attack on him as a person. I just want him to know that this is not how to treat a customer that has already paid. If LZM sees this, PM me or call me. Let me know whats up, please. Thanks for your time.

If I could get some measurements, I could probably get some made. I would need them before finding a price.

Anyone with a set of them NOT installed want to take some exact measurements, metric preferred, and sent them to me?

If anyone plans on making them you can put me down for a set for sure.

Just got off the phone with a couple GM dealership parts guys. they all said basically the same thing : there are 2 different types depending on your VIN. The first guy said one is stiffer than the other. One guy said they are the same compound just different sizes. One guy asked me if I wanted yellow or green. Does that just mean different compounds? Yellow vs. green? He didn't know.

I know there were atleast 2 different suspension options, fe1 and fe2. most base got the fe1 and sport models/z24s got the fe2.
from what I've read the fe2 got stiffer/better bushings.
