What spring will make the jbodys sit the lowest
Wednesday, January 20, 2010 6:17 AM
I am looking for opinions and help to dertmine what spring for our jbodys will make the j sit the lowest; just springs as i cant afford coilovers or bags(sad face)
Also does the gt/z's and ecotec j's sit lower then the 2200 j's??????
I have a sunfire sedan and i currently have sprints, sits nice and low in the rear; the front has like a 2 inch gap in the wheel well still; i am looking to close that gap down...

I am thinking goldlines or sportlines will sit the lowest?
My buddy had goldlines on his 97 gt, it sat super low; but i think the sedans sit higher then the others so i am afraid if i ran goldlines i would not get as low...

Any thoughts

Thanks...

Also Road Magnets. Either way, you HAVE to get new shocks to take the drop, Tokico D-Specs.

On my car, I ran no springs in the rear, and the front was so low that you could basically push the on the front end and hit the bump stops, or whatever limits the travel.... it was the lowest cavalier around, but I had cv axle issues...

You could just heat up your front springs and lower em, but I have heard thats not a good idea...

What struts? Stockers cannot handle any drop and suspensions are something that can kill you or other people when you half ass it.

You ruin the temper of the metal and will cause them to break.

I ran stock struts and H&R springs for almost 3 years. Replaced the struts a couple times, everyones is right stockers die fast with a drop but they will work plus I never killed anyone.

from pics it looks like yellows with goldines = lowest drop outside of coilovers

Roadmagnet's. supposed to be a 2.2" drop all around. have to go with either Tokico D-specs or Koni Yellow struts with these. they are the only struts availible for our cars that will handle the drop.

The struts dont affect the drop in terms of having the car sit lower with say one strut brand over another, basically useing say an aftermarket strut compated to an oem strut?

i'm not sure what the hell you just said, but if ur going to put lowering springs on ur car, u want an aftermarket strut rated for a drop.
oem struts are not meant for drops, and they will fail, maybe not right away but they will fail.

What i was trying to say was,lol..... i know some have adjustable setting on there aftermarket struts, so i thought maby you could adjust the strut itself to make the car sit lower(i am probally thinking of coilovers) the adjustment on the strut is probally for the ride quality of the suspension????
And i wont lie, i will be and have right now oem struts(monroe) and i am not going to defend why i am useing oem struts, but i have been lowered on prokits up until last spring with the orginal struts and i was lowered on this setup for 6 years; and yes it was only a mild drop; but i never had an issue; i went and replaced them with new ones as the sprint springs gave me a more aggresive drop; anyways i appreciate all your help everyone..
so basically goldlines with some good struts is the way to go to get low....
I am still a little weiry on if the car will sit low enough for my liking; i just dont want a nasty front wheel gap...

Adjustments on aftermarket struts is for the firmness of the strut, and has nothing to do with ride height.

Goldline springs will kill a stock strut.....END OF STORY, and the stock strut valving can not handle the drop or the stiffer spring rate.

Tien coilovers are you best bet it you want to be VERY low.
