How many of you guys have this going on? Should I worry about it or what? They have some surface rust on them but they look like crap lol. Would you all paint them? Is it normal for the reman ones to rust? Thx guys.
If you didn't paint them in the first place, I'm sure they'll rust.
I painted mine when they were new with no rust and usually that'll stop any rust in it's tracks.
But yeah, repaint them and that should solve your problem.
Good luck.
Here's a pic.
Hopefully this will prevent any rust from happening.

Thank you Dave and JBO!
Nah I didn't paint them. It was a last minute install kind of deal and I didn't even think about painting them. Dang it lol. How would one go about removing the surface rust? A steel brissle brush or something. Idk never painted brake stuff before.
Simple metal brush is all you'll need.
Get a couple of different sizes for the smaller areas.
Clean with 99.9% Isopropyl Alcohol to clean when you're done and use some kind of high temp paint in the 600 degree range.
I usually use the ceramic based high temp paint by Duplicolor. It works great, holds up for the years, and is a very solid paint.
Good luck.

Duplicolor caliper paint kit from the parts store, unless you wanna podercoat them. Worked well for mine.
You better take them to a shop, and have them professionally cleaned and sand blasted, or bead blasted.
If you dont, the paint will just chip off after a short time.
I would disagree with this Phil.
If the caliper is prepped properly, the paint will stick.
I know as I've done this for years with my cars, taking rusted calipers cleaning them up (but rust is still there just cleaned up a little), and painting them.
If you get rid of all and any grease with the alcohol, the paint WILL stick to the caliper and some of the rust that may still be there.
It will look good once done and it should last several years with no issues or paint coming off the caliper. If you extend it to more than 3 years, yes, the paint will start to be undermined by eventual rust but remember too that the quality of paint is crucial in how well it lasts on the caliper.
Give it a shot, what have you got to lose but a little time, and effort.
Taking it to a shop is a bit ridiculous and the money spent to have them clean them up would'nt warrant doing this if you can do it yourself.
Good luck man and thanks Phil.

say hello to subaru STI rears!
Hear are some of my pics of them. If there huge or crappy sorry they were from my iPhone.
Weird that the driver side is a whole lot worse than the passenger side.
Driver side:
passenger side:
That's normal.
It's also easily cleaned with a good wire brush to remove the loose rust and then prep for paint.
Should be easy and I've worked with brakes like this before with no issues of the paint sticking as long as you prep it correctly.;
Good luck.

Thanks bro. Hey should I take them off the car to do it? If so can i just tape off the fitting or should I take it out? If I take it out where can I get a new crush washer.
Take the time and remove them from the car so you can properly clean them and paint them.
