Wait your going to just lower the rear? Why would you do such a thing and you know that its going to throw off the suspension and most likely cause you to wreck due to having different spring rates form front to rear.

it should cost you $750-$1000.

thats correct struts to handle a drop and a nice lowering spring with new mounts.

180hp in 1989 or 145hp in 2002, you decide. >

For all new components, But you gotta be careful on buying some cheap used @!#$. Never know what kind of ride they will give.

and i meant getting the suspension lowered for both the front and rear...
it just kinda looks like my rear suspension is slightly higher than the front.

don't know why, yo.

Its the way Js in general sit. Eibach Sportlines lower 1.7 in the front ans 2.3 in the rear to give you an even drop.

You can do way less than a grand. Just look at the classifieds and your regional forums for some used stuff.

LOL. That's his sig you quoted.

On topic, you're obviously looking for the cheap way to lower you car, since you think a grand is "ridic", but if you're not going to get the correct components, forget lowering your car. As mentioned, finding some used stuff can save you some money. However, be aware that you have no idea of the functional condition, so you're rolling the dice. Still a safer bet than using cheap crap, but keep that in mind. Doing the wrong thing with your suspension is not like other mods, where it might look like crap if you cheap out. It's about safety.

quality costs money yo... so check it out, it's like this...

factory struts are trash. put lowering springs on them and they will blow, ride like @!#$, and potentially cause you to lose control of your car. sometimes it's ok to go cheap. suspension is not one of those times.

with that kind of money, you could've bought another cavalier.

i understand the fact that quality costs money...
but it just doesn't make much sense to me to be spending more than what the car itself is worth.

I have a perfect idea then, go buy a corvetter, evo, sti, ect. That way when you do mods to them you dont feel like your spending more than the car is worth. Thats the point of modding up cavs, civics and all the other economy sport compacts that people work on, to put money into it and make it perform comparable to higher priced cars. If you cant justify spending money on a car to do it the right way then you should stay away from modding them in general. 6-700 on a suspension isint too bad for how important of a component it is.

Re: lower the cav, yo.

Not to mention $700 is downright cheap for a full suspension revamp compared to the cost of doing it on Evo's, STI's etc.

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

I've spent over 13,000 on my Cavy and I've not yet rebuilt the engine or tranny.
I'll tell you this, I'll let you drive my car, and then tell me it's not worth it. I think you'll change your mind.

Good luck though and these guys aren't just saying what they're saying because they can say it. They know from experience and others experience with our Jbodies.

James speaks truth. Yo.

I paid $2k for my car in '08. And by summer of '09, I was close to $1,800 invested in other stuff/parts aside from the purchase price.

Price climbs QUICK when modding. And my car is still basically stock IMO.

:Edit: Forgot to add the "Yo"
