Just got the motor (2.2) back in my 98 cavalier, with everything pluged back in the way it all got unpluged, when i noticed while trying to got the axles back into the spindles, when i spotted a spark coming from the tip of the axle when it touched the spindle. It did this on both sides, what gives, i've never seen this happen before. Could it be that i need to ground the motor to the body? please advise
Well i guess om in the clear, because i figurd it out, it was the fact that there was no ground to the motor from the body. Kinda threw me for a spin, because i did'nt remember there being a ground strap on the motor to the body before i tore the car down. But in eny event i bolted a wire to the strut tower, and took the other end and started touching different parts of the motor spots of the motor, ans what do'ya know, a large back feed on jouce threw the moter and tranny, bolted the wire down, and problem solved. Just a little food for thought.
There should be one that goes to a bolt in the front that mates the engine and tranny. It should go right to the battery iirc. I don't remember because I did the big 3 a long time ago and thats the setup I have now with 4awg.
