Speaking of coilovers, I'm putting mine on tonight. GCs with Yellows.
I know this had NOTHING to do with your question... but hey, I'll bump a thread for ya.
I wouldn't recommend it.
I know Tokico says the hps can handle a mild drop (even though they are advertised as stock replacements), but I guess it depends on how low you are going to drop. I think if you stick to a conservative 1.5-1.6" drop you would be ok, but I wouldn't go extreme. My buddy had hp's on his Del Sol (which of course their suspensions are designed and react differently than ours, but for the sake of comparison...), he ran a 1.5" drop on those for at least 4 years without a problem.
If you are planning on 2" or more, I would personally go with koni red's or d-specs.
for dding i would never go lower than 1.5. the only reason i'm even looking at coilovers honestly is for the photo op's lol. i'd like to be able to have the option to drop the bitch to the ground where it sits if i want. i would never drive it that way though.
Just have a couple fat guys hide inside.

....in which case YOU my friend, should buy my bags! Eh? EHHH?!

Aka how many ORG members can he hide in his car?
Maybe one turned sideways with the back seat down.
Fat guys make the car handle better too.
Win WIN
ok, in all seriousness. can i do it without problems?
I dont see why not. I mean if you really want to go through with the extra cost and hassle. I personally rather spend the money from the coilovers on better struts.
I have no facts to prove either or, but i wouldnt. To me something about it says that you are asking for trouble.
its an old concept. time for something new to take the reigns. - Z yaaaa
If it were my car, I would just save up the extra and buy d-specs or konis. Like I said, Tokico does warrenty the hp's for mild drops, though I don't think it always means it should be done. I don't think they really have the proper amount of dampening to function well with our cars when lowered.
Keep an eye out, you can usually find good deals on koni yellows and d-specs. I'm happy I waited it out til a set of reds/ground controls came my way.
thank you for the answers fella's.
Got my Sportlines and Dspecs on the cheap. Keep a look out puddin.

Same for my GCs and Yellows.
But you really should buy my bags... SOMEBODY should buy these bags...
HP's are the exact same as D-Specs. Just not adjustable. And there are people with coilovers on D-Specs.

how'd you ever get that set that you're running?

Theres one guy. You have to mod the D-spec to fit GCs. Jay Van is the only one I know of.

what did he have to do for them to fit?
Probably cut the spring perch off just above its weld. Actually I'm about 98% sure that's what it'd be.

That sounds about right. Im just too lazy to do the looking. But its definitely here somewhere.
And I mean if it s Jay Van we dont really have a decent idea how long D-specs will last with coilovers on a daily setup since I believe his car doesnt get as many miles put on it as most DDs do.
