yep those pictured definitely go on a j-body. hp struts can handle the drop those springs provide.
i think thats an awesome deal man...but just make sure they will honor any tokico warranty.
If it takes forever.... I will die trying. Underdog Racing
Those are the exact ones I bought from the exact same place. Shipping was slow because they were out of stock and I had to wait for them to get more in . I just put them on today and I am totally confused though. I have literally put on at least a hundred struts as a technician , but I measured before and after and it lowered 3 inches I'm the front and 1.5 in the rear . I looked over them well and don't see anything I missed. I had to buy new mounts for the front and rear cause the old ones were shot. Has anybody else ran into this problem ?
If that's a current pic of your car, it didn't lower no 3 inches.
You are right here is one pic from today.
Looks to me like about a 2" up front and a 1" in the rear. Definitely not 3" up front, unless your stock springs were taller than every other 3rd gen J-body out there.
Not that I know of , but I did measure before and after and from the ground to the center of my wheel well it was 28 inches in the front and rear afterwards it was 25 in the front and 27 in the rear . Anyways as I said I have installed many struts , but not lowering springs. Is there something I can do to even it out, or anything different I should have done ?
Ya you can't get a accurate measurement that way, since your wheel well gap gets smaller when youclower, new middle isn't same as old middle. You could put a system in the trunk to lower that ass end
Oh forgot, how does it ride?
those wheels look flat out stupid on your car. you need big brakes in the front and rear to make those looks even close to decent.
It rides great, a little stiff but not bad .
Well bluecavy I can't do everything at once and looking at your wheels I don't see how u have any room to talk. Besides everyone has their own opinion. Personally I love them and since its my car and not yours ,well ...
lol, my sig's a photoshop, the wheels are the stock color (since they are after all a stock wheel). but nice try
i was simply pointing out how ridiculous those huge wheels look with such tiny ass brakes sitting behind them, if they had larger spokes you could probly pull it off but with the way the rims are shaped they'll never look good without big brakes front and rear. if it were me i'd get some smaller rims on there, or as previously mentioned bite the bullet and spend a couple grand on big brakes for the front and rear.
no need to get defensive, no one asked you to post a pic of your car, if you do so on a public forum expect that there's going to be criticizm's.
i posted pics because evan was asking about them and since i just installed that exact combo of struts and springs from the exact same place i thought i would show what they look like.
Anyways, they are only 18 inch wheels and yes i will get defensive anytime someone tries trolling on me. I have just completed alot of work on my car from this tax check. I do plan on upgrading the brakes at some time, just like i plan on doing other things. Boost and paint and the list goes on. I dont need big brakes yet and u are the only one complaining about the way my car looks.

That is because the rest of us cant be bothered to tell you how awful those wheels look.
its an old concept. time for something new to take the reigns. - Z yaaaa
I wouldn't paint it unless same color, I love that color lol

Can you explain that please? Obviously the gap between the tire and fender lip is going to get smaller, since the actual body of the car is getting lower. But how does the center of the fender opening change?
.
I wondered about that gap thing also. If the gap was exactly the same before and i used springs that were supposed to drop it 1.5 inches all the way around shouldn't it be the same after?
And i will paint it sunburst orange again, but im gonna add some black somewhere somehow. And that stupid trim molding is gone when it gets painted. Also i was thinking about making the wheels completly black when i do the body.
Of course haters will still hate on my wheels then too, lol. oh well
You could also do the silver the rims match your car and possibly the calipers
Modding my j since I found the org
awesome deal im buying them now, and have never done anything as far as suspension goes but my stock stuffs on its last leg 104,xxx miles. Ive been looking at diffrent set-ups for awhile now. my question is though do the springs come on the struts cus im really not too excited to spend 60 bucks just to rent that damn tool from advanced autoparts.
Josh the springs come with the struts ,but not on them. You will also need new strut mounts for both front and rear. I got mine at discount for $100 bucks for all 4. Also you will need to transfer the upper and lower rubber peices and dust boot. And inside of the dustboot there is a bumpstop that will need to be trimmed down to alow for the drop. The paperwork for the tokico struts say to trim the bumpstop 1/3 or 1/2" Trim off the bottom portion ( the smaller end ) as the bigger end kinda presses into the dust boot. If you are not familiar with doing this have a shop do it for you cause compressing the springs can cause severe injury. 2 years ago i saw a stut come flying out of a spring compressor and broke a guys arm.
wow thanks for the insite. do you know how much it would cost for a shop to put it all together and align it? and would they really know to trim the bumpstop and transfering the rubber pices? and is it ok to take in your own stuff for them to put on your car? I apoligize for the stupidity but im an english major and don't know my way around a car real well.
That depends on the shop, u would have to ask around. At my shop we charge $30 bucks per strut and $59.95 for a thrust angle alignment wich is all you will need. Any reputable shop should know to change over all the peices , but they most likely wont know about trimming the bump stops.
ok thank you so much ive read alot of stuff on here about what struts to use but to get some good solid facts from somebody who knows what they are doing is nice. whatever shop i go to i'll show them the instructions and tell them about triming the bumpstop. I really like the drop on your car it gives it a smooth line.
