i have a 1998 sunfire, the rear brake lines are rusting so bad that they are starting to leak, the car has almost 200,000 mies on it and it's pretty much worn out and not worth spend $ to replace the lines. i just need this car to run a little longer till i have the $ for a truck i am looking at. can i just block off the rear brake lines at the master cylinder and just use the front brakes? or will that mess up the abs system? yea i know it's not really safe idea to have just front brakes but i drive on backs roads to get to work and never in heavy traffic to endanger anyone's life if i can't get stopped.
i say go for it. just use your ebrake as you brake with your fronts

if your not going to fix it have fun but really do it right go get a roll of bendable brake line and some fittings and rent a bubble flare tool it should cose $30 max

But to answer you, yes. I did it on my second gen sedan. I i will say this once....NEVER will i drive a car with only front brakes again.
do you mind telling how your car handled with just the front brakes?
and $30 is a low price to keep it safe but my plans for this car is once i get the truck i am looking at is i was going to remove the engine & tranny and swap it into a sandrail frame that i have. BUT i guess if i'm in the hospital or dead i won't be doing any of that fun stuff to my toy.

This is retarted, we get people like you in our shop all the time. If you can't afford or don't want to fix your car cause its not worth it, I understand. But please keep the hell of the roads with it. Hutch a ride with someone or rent a car until you get something else.
