Just wondering if anyone has an easy way of painting the calipers and drums? Also, would also appreciate recommendations for how and what to use to paint them?
tremclad and a paintbrush. suprisingly mine has lasted for a year, and I did absolutely nothing to prep. But I wouldn't suggest any colour other than black if you want to keep it cheap.
I always pull mine off the car, degrease and clean, sandblast, smooth the surface out by grinding the casting marks off them with a grinder, resandblast, and last but not least spray paint them like normal. They allways look soooo much nicer when smoothed out. Heres a pic of the ones i did on my truck
Hmmmmm I may smooth mine out. Never really thaught about that.
I just hit them with a wirebrush to clean them up and spray them with high temp paint. No primer or clear.
I spray away. I dont mask off anything. BUt thats because I spray everytdamn thing in there silver. ANy overspray on the rotors rubs right off after driving. Ive not had any problems with my brakes and been doing this for over 4 years.
ANd Ive never had any chipping problems.

I am all that is man
i wanna paint mine red...cuz my rims are white and it'll really stand out~
....My kit is OFFICIALLY GOIN ON SATURDAY....which after it goes on i'm driving home to put the rims on
What i did was use a Caliper painting kit. I got one from O'Reily's. It come with a cleaner, brush, paint, tape, and directions. But if i were u i'd also pick up grease and wax remover and a steal brush the cleaner they provide is very crappy. As well as lots of paper towels, and a spare tooth brush.
Use the toothbrush to apply the degreaser/ scrub the caliper and or sorrunding parts. When you have is soaked in grease and wax remover, scrub the hell out of it with the steal brush to remove all the greases and dirt buildup. Then go back to scrubbing it again with the toothbrush and then back to the steam brush. The caliper will start to turn a dark grey color instead of a rusty/ dirty color it was before. It will also start to shine up because the steal brush is not only cleaning it, it is polishing it. Then if u think u have taken off most of the dirt. Whipe it down with the grease and wax remover applied on a paper towel. Lots of crap will come off at first, but continue to do it and dont keep wiping over it with the dirty side or it will just reapply dirt. Whipe it down untill u pick up no dirt or barely any at all. Then that is when u know it is ready for paint. Just use the paint from the kit and or what everpaint u have ready. I would suggest this kit if u can get it because it comes with high temp paint and it looks VERY VERY glossy. U will see it for sure. If u have anymore questions email or IM me on AOL, i can help ya out. BTW here is what it looked like with mine done.
BTW make sure u apply enough coats so the paint looks very even. I put 3 heavy coats on mine as u see here.

Or tape off the drums too. What i did, cuz they dont come off easy. U'll find ur self beating them with a rubber mallet to losen them b4 u simply pull them off.

lol remember now i also said in the post that i put it on about two years ago. Two years ago i got it for 5$. I checked ebay too and your right it has gone up considerably. The local speed shop around here is selling the Frolia Tech - same thing - and theyre selling it for 79.99. RIP OFF. I mean its well worth it and all but if i were to do it again, which i think im going to do on the cav, im doin G2 on ebay. 30$ is well worth it. Mine have held up thru all sorts of conditions, it was put thru one winter, didnt drive it this winter cause i bought the cav, but im sure it would still look the same. I would recommend it to anyone.
I bid on the RED g2 paint...its going for almost $25 right now~
