Can someone give me some information on air ride kits for Cavaliers.
I see complete kits at A Plus Performance and Winks Online but I really don't know much about them...
I mean do you buy a full kit once and not have to buy anything else for it??
Any maintenance for parts, etc.. ?
I know they can drop the car so can you drop or raise it and drive it at any height?
Also if you install it and then go to drop it is it going to come down hard?
I mean will it do any damage to a body kit?
I know they are probably stupid questions but it's just one of those things that I don't know...
Thanks in advance
go to the "suspension and brake" forum and click on the top right, the button that says "search", type in air ride...
well if you get air ride, go through jason at a+ for the easystreet kit. best kit imo thats out there.
as for parts, you would need to buy a water trap. some people dont use them but i find it helpful and i catch alot of water in mine.
maintance, i never had a problem. broke one fitting since i had the kit ( 1year ).
yes you can drop and raise the car to any height and drive. keep in mind the stiffer the bag, the more stiffer the car will be. the less air in the bags, the more bouncy it will be. easystreet also has 9-way adjustable damping that will help you get a good setting.
coming down hard depends on the valve size, line and how long you hold the switich. its all about timing too. i have a pretty good feel for my kit and i know how fast it will go up and down so i can just judge it by how long i hold the switch down. now keep in mind, the cars go up and down in about 1/2 a second so you have to be really familar w/ your kit.
hope that helps answer any of your questions
what size trap do I need my kit goes on monday i have the easy street kit got it from jason
i got a small one from home depot. dont worry about that the size is for the fittings that go into and out of the trap. if you dont have one from the kit, you can pick up fittings from home depot while your there. thats what i did.
can you ajust each wheel individually or is it 2 at a time er.. how does that work? This replaces all former suspension on the car?
it replaces easystreet kit is a full replacement of the strut mounts, springs and shocks. depending on how many valves you use ( 4 or 8) and how many switches you have will determine what you control. i have 8 valves for a fbss kit ( front, back, side to side = fbss) with a 10 switch box. you can wire it up any way you want to control anything you want.
I have the 10 switch pannel and we are workign on it thgis week I have 8 valves but how do they go liek my guy that is doign it has it on his 55 chevy and said he only needed 4 so how do I go about using the other 4?
if you have 8 valves then u have the FBSS as stated above and also you have the ability to control each individual bag....if i am not mistaken then there will be hookups for all of them so it should be self explaintory......but someone else here with a little more knowledge about this should step in and correct me if i am wrong

THe guy only needed 4 valves or 4 switches?
If he only needed four vlaves than he has a front/back setup meaning 2 vlaves up front for up and down and two valves out back for up and down.
He has no way to make the car go side to side. If you put two valves on each corner you can go any height you want on each corner. AND you get better handling out of 8 valves because the air will not bleed from side to side like it will on a front to back setup.
THe setup is real easy with the box. THeres a wire for each corner coming out of the box.

so I have the 10 swith box and 8 valves so I hook one into another so valve into valve into tank correct? esb or some one let me no tonight plese we are finishign tomarrow
also how many turns in which way dampining wise? and what would be the best pressures to drive at?
and what pressur would make it between a 1.5 and 2 inchg drop?
also any one with the full 8 valve 10 switch pannel deal please post pics of ut trunk set up or e-mail them to me bigbrad357@yahoo.com than u all so much
well look at the diagram you got from easy street. you have 2 fittings coming off the tank, then you have your fill valve. off the fill valve you have a street tee. going straight across the t is the male elbow that you hook you line in that sends the air to the bags. coming off the bottom of the t is a fitting i believe then the other valve. that valve is the dump valve that lets the air out. you have that for all 4 ports coming off the tank. go
here and the first drop down box is air management manuals. click the drop down list and select the fbss 145psi air management system w/ 450c compressor. once it opens, go to page 6 and you'll see what im talking about. hook all for up like that to use all 8 valves.
as for the damping i believe to the right is stiffer. it all depends on your car and settings. i ride at 45 up front and 50-55 in the rear. my settings are 1 click from the right on the fronts and 4 clicks from the right in the rear. my car rides fine. what you can do is set them to the psi you want and then just push down on the rear and see if it bounces, then you can adjust from there. you can also do the same for the front. the best thing to do though is just trial and error. set it, take it out and find out. either pull off on the side of the road and adjust or just go home and adjust and take it out again
do u have any pics of ur set up so i can see it any one else to plese i need this
no. it looks just like the manual has it. just follow the manual i posted. its really easy. hit me up on my aol name and i'll help you out
Dont worry about what others run for pressure. Set the car at a ride height you like. then see what PSI it takes to get there.
Everyones setups are going to be dif. LIke mine needs higher PSI to lift because my valves are so close to the bags. When you have the valves mounted all the way back on the tank it has more room to expand in the lines and requires less pressure to lift.
SO pick a ride height and see what pressure its at.
I run my front struts at the softest setting because one of my struts is blown. SO I cant have one stiff and one blown. Makes it lift uneven and rides funny.

THis is my rear setup. but its most likely nothing like what your doing if your doing yours just like the easystreet instructions.

In the top left is a block that I used to make hooking all the valves wires into the switch box wires easy.
"so I have the 10 swith box and 8 valves so I hook one into another so valve into valve into tank correct?"
IM not sure what your asking. But the wires from the switch box go to the valves. One wire on each valves is grounded. the other wire on each valves goes to a certain wire on the box.
When you install the valves make sure that the FILL valves arrow is pointing towards the bag and
make sure the dump valves arrow is pointing away from the bag.
Dump valve has to be between the bag and the fill valve.
IN my pic you can see this. THe line going down and Ting off is the pressure line from the tank and goes into the fill valves.

not really close up but if you save it then zoom in it might help ya out a bit ...oh and ignore the exhaust lol...i dragged that off long long ago LOL

if he has 4 2-way valves then he would be able to do the same as your 8 single flow valves (FBSS), i have the 2-way valves on my car, just wanted to clear that up, lol, later

im runnin 18x7.5 with 215/35 rubber and im not sure bout the front cause i have custom flares, back is great and with my flares of course it is fine up front also, later
