my car has 89k km on it (58k miles) and i'm gonna take a look at the brake shoes in the back soon because i think its time to change them, i was just wondering if i should replace the brake drums too?
might as well....not too expensive
Not unintentionally accelerating since 2009!!!!
true but is it actually necessary, i know that the braking power in the back is smaller in proportion to the front so the wear will be less in theory. Is there a measurement that i can use to see if they are good or not (like rotors)?
i have about 50k miles on my cav, and i havent touched the rear brakes yet. but in a week or two when my brother has the time, im having him do all four brakes and a fluid flush

I would say with 58k miles on it, change the rears. I have 55k and I haven't yet, but I was told the next time I need fronts to do the rears too.
I wouldn't replace them unless they really need it. Use a drum gauge and check them first if there not oversized you could just get them resurfaced even if thats needed. If it's smooth the whole way around and with in the specs stamped on the drum leave it alone. If you take car of them they should last a long long time...
