I need to replace my fron brakes (the rotors are still ok) so i want to get Ceramic or Carbon Metalic Brake pads on of my buddys sugested that i should replace my rotors too.
so now i'm still thinking if i should pay $144 + shipment for a pair of Brembo Slotter Performance Rotors or just get stock new ones
I would appreciate your opinion
One more thing, are the rotors easy to replace or i have to take it to a mechanic
Thanks
I would go for it, I have the brembo slotted rotors on my car and compared to the stock rotors they are a 1000 times better. I have also heard that if you just get a brembo replacement rotor you will tell a difference and you don't have to worry about warping them. I could warp a stock rotor in about two months and my brembos fell new after they have been on for about 4 or 5 months now. To replace a rotor is as easy as slipping it on your hub.
I purchased the Brembo slotted rotors from Tirerack along with Hawk HPS pads (they do sell them even though their site says they don't). You prob will not notice the rotor making much difference in "feel." The pads though may help you. If you really want to upgrade the feel of your brake system, go with SS lines. They do not expand as much when the fluid pressure increases, thus transmitting a better feeling and more responsive pedal.
Install is easy. All you need is a C clamp, 3/8" Allen head socket, a block of wood and a hammer. Just don't chip your fender paint when banging the rotor like I did. The hardest part is getting off the old rotor which is rusty. Just take the block of wood and place it on the top middle part of the old rotor. Give it a good whack, and maybe on the first or second blow it will break loose.
"If you aren't shifting, then you certainly aren't driving!"
Slotted rotors don't make much of a difference in my opinion. I would get plain brembo rotors (can be found cheap on nopi's website) and use that extra $100 to buy some SS lines. Nopi also sells Axxis ultimate pads very cheap. They are a kevlar-ceramic pad that can take all kinds of abuse and not fade.
Thanks for all your coments and opinions it helped alot
Now i'll order the rotors on Friday from TireRack and for the brake pads i'll probably get them from a store so i won't have to pay for shipment.
For the SS lines ..... i probably won't be able to do the change in my garage cause you have to drain the system and i heard some bad stories and i don't want to screw around with the brakes so i'll have to take it to a mechanic so that will probably be in Sepetember cause my Funds are limited
I want to go for sloted rotors i think will give me a better cooling and ventilation when i'll use them alot ( mountains)
Thanks again,
Octavian
