Hey all, I got my KYB AGX and BG springs yesterday and start the install this afternoon at school. Everything was fine before we mount the BG springs on the shocks. We realize that there was a problem with the nut that they provide with the shocks. This thing does not fill the hole like the nut in the stock shocks.... We then decide to assemble the rear ones, we had to use a special tool to prevent the rod to spin in the shock while we tighten it. This part was ok, but I'm not 100% confident about it, it's installed on the car, but I don't want to mess anything on my car. Does anyone here have installed this combo on a 03-05 fire/cavy. If so I'll be happy as hell to get some help. I thought that everything would be fine and that I'll get back home with my car tonight but those things p***** me off. Any help would be welcome. I'm desperate, since I started modding my car, there's always a little something that doesn't work well. Oh by the way my car is on 17" does it affect anything about the shocks??? Thanks...
The 17s make no difference.
What nut are you talking about?
Strut to mount? Use the stock one.
If you're having spinning problems. Use two box wrenches. I forget what size they are, but one goes on the nut, and the other on the rod end.
Something not working is the challenge of modding your car, and oh the reward!
I hope that the rear is ok, so I won't have to retouch it (Test drive as soon as the front is on), as for the nut, yes it's strut to mount, but I think that we tried the stock one and that it's not the same size...
First I'd check that you've got the correct fronts. It happens from time to time. Part No 734038
Second, do you have the spacer/washers between the strut mount and the nut. This should have been in the kit, but it is common for it to be missing. If it is missing you just need to call KYB, they'll send you them free.
Do you have any pic of the spacer, so I can get something similar that will do the job for the moment, till I get the spacer from KYB, cause the car have to get out of the garage today...
the nut is not the same size, its a size bigger then the stock one. And the nuts they provided in the old kit didnt have a spacer/washer with them. I dont know why urs wouldnt but i asked kyb about it and they are sending me a replacement with a spacer. I didnt know this problem tho when i installed mine and i think i @!#$ something up so i would be a washer or spacer before you install the fronts. The rears i dont think need them.

I don't remeber what size it is, but any old steel washer will do. Lowes, Home Depot any most general stores will have a washer that will work for the time being.
The spacer/washer is not necessary on the rear.
you guys talking about a washer/spacer below the nut (on the top of the mount) or on the bottom of the mount?
Well at least it's on, I got to a machine shop and they make me two spacers that fit perfectly in the mount. I have a little noise in the front, but I'll see, those things are brand new so... As for the rear it's a little bit worst, sound like the coils are bigger in diameter than the stock mount.. Did the one that you can get from KYB are a little bit larger??? It won't break or get out, but I prefer to have them installed the right way...
Oh and the part number is correct...
Chris:
Nut <-- On Top
Washer <-- Next down
Mount <-- Under the washer, or spacer, whatever
Strut <-- Strut, spring and all that jazz
