people with megan springs

hey i just got my megan springs and i wanted to know from people who have used them or anybody else what would be the best struts to use for these springs. Im leaning towards AGX but need to save a little more money or use some of my scholarship money to get those. wondering if the agx would be suitable for that drop and if so, so i could buy them with some of my scholarship money. thanks any suggestions wanted so just say what ever strut u think is best.

the spring rates are the same as coilovers on those springs...

agx arent rated for coilovers, nor that low of a drop... 1.5 inches and a way softer spring are all the agx are warrantied for.

there isnt a BEST strut.... get the word BEST out the vocab.

koni reds
koni yellows
maybe tokico d spec.

cheaper springs, usually cause you to pay more for struts in the long run. mainly because of higher spring rates

also the lower you go the more you will pay.

so how much of a drop are the yellows and reds rated for? so i can get those for mine. are those gonna be sufficient enough for the drop that i have?

also i heard that with yellows or something like that u have to cut open ur stock strut and insert something in that one, if so will the reds handle the drop without having to cut open my strut.thanks

Cavipowe1: Yellows and reds are rated the same, they dont' make reds anymore though. Even Koni's will wear out with those crap springs, but they will last longer than anything else. Yes you will need to cut your stock struts open, it's not that big of a deal though. Someone posted a How-To on the forum here, search it up.

the koni fronts are insets, which means you have to cut above the knuckle of the strut, empty it out and then insert the koni (well you drill a small hole in the bottom of the strut first before your saw it off). konis will handle the springs but i would look into different springs. im not sure the warrenty on konis but there is a limit. event knows

koni usually can go to 2 -2.5, but if you read the FAQ, koni even stated in an email that the most optimal handling for our cars is around 1.5....

koni basically hopes everyone will use common sense and doesnt list a level, BUT they do state that if you lower excessively.... pretty much past 2.5 inches, and you damage em, then its not covered...

and yes they can tell how low you were.... the wear marks on the strut shaft tell everything.

well i put on the megans cuz my friends kept bugging me, we put them on and my first impression was that they rode pretty good on the stock struts, i know they wont last like that for long so i am gonna buy the yellows and if i find some good used springs in the classifieds for a good price ill buy those. and they dropped the car in the back a little less than two inches and in the front almost dead on to two inches cuz we measured before and after, so i guess ill change the struts when i get them and hopefully like it. but my impression of them was pretty good for the way they rode.

measure again after a few weeks....

most springs especially lower priced ones have tendency to sag a bit....

I've had them with stock struts for about 3 months now. Event saw my car and I don't think it looks bad at all. The stock ones are still just fine , tho I know they can't last forever and since I only learned of the need for new lowering struts AFTER I installed them I figured what the hell. Event that dude at our meet said they felt bad to him but they ride great and no leaks or bounce so I don't know what he was talking about.
Anyway I have the same thing after 3 months with mine , the front is dead on and the rear is a little less then 2 inches I don't know if its cause were running the factory struts or what but I like it. It rides great even with my 18's so I'll just relace the struts when these die.

Good luck and I hope I've answered your question for you.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

I find the easiest way to identify blown struts in a j-body is to do a slalom run. If it wags like a wet dog, they're blown; even stock struts when good will control the roll fairly well.

signal 13 is selling prokits....

J-lope , which dude? you mean donavon when he pushed on your car? they had a bit of extra oscilation over his agx and pro kits... if you want and we can find an empty parking lot, we can vid cam your cars handling vs his, or take a ride in his to check the difference.

i know when i first met donnieB, he had prokits on stock.... no leaks, etc... and it was EHHH... at best...

when we installed his agx on the prokits... it was ....SOLID good response, soaked up bumps and large ones as well.

slalom is a good way, but some wont drive it hard, so they will never know.
