Hi all,i can't seem to figure this problem out.
I noticed this on Saturday but didn't have the time to look at it are take it to a shop.
when you drive down the street/highway at certain times you will here a scraping kind of noise coming from the drivers rear drum but the second you apply the brake it goes away and then comes back again.
my first thought was because they are drum brakes the shoes may have to be adjusted because when you put your foot on the brake it goes away. Now im thinking its one of the springs has lost it's tension and that show just keeps rubbing on the drum.
my ebrake works fine, and i already tryed acuple times pulling it up and down to adjust it.The master cylinder is full and i even put a mark from some white out to see if it drops.
the drums them self aren't bright red like i would of thought they are the same temp from the passenger side
can anybody please put some light on this????,do they just have to be adjusted again are is my cylinder gone.
its a 2001 cavy with 60k and i bought it with 32k so i figure it has never had its brakes adjusted.

Might need new pads... Probably just needs to be adjusted.
Open it up. Theres a small dial at the bottom between the two pads. Turn it untill (opening them up) a turn or two at the most. Put the drum and wheel back on. Test. Try again if not good.
Also try a can of brake cleaner in there while you're at it. You'd be amazed at the problems you can clear up with 1/2 a can of brake cleaner.
Well thanks for that input,My brakes fixed them self(knock on wood)i was driving down the street acuple days ago.The noise keep'ed getting louder and louder and then all the shodin it sounded like a fire cracker was going off. After that i haven't heard anything since my fluid is still where it should be nothing leaking etc.
I've never heard a car keep getting louder and louder and then Bang and it can still drive
im crossing my figures on to how long this lasts
Hmm.. Keep your fingers crossed. I'd definately open them up and take a look. Maybe it was just a pebel that got in there somehow...
