well im sick of the megan springs now just because i now have to drive on the highway alot and when theres dips i hate hitting the roof with my head. they were okay driving in town but not on they highway. i have about two finger gap in the front and back and i like how it looks like that. i am getting kyb agx's and wanted either tein s techs, eibach pro kit, or intrax springs. i really want the performance that all these springs offer and am hoping for a good ride but i was wondering how much of a drop that each of these would give me. i saw one four door cavalier with prokits and it had like the same amout of wheel gap as me about two fingers, i saw esb's with the teins and liked how it looked but was just wondering which would give me the least amount of wheel gap without too bad a ride. i know the intrax will void the warranty but i dont know if i will get those. oh and i did a search and read like 400 and something posts on the word "tein" and like 396 posts on the word "prokit" oh and i like the goldlines also but i read that the goldlines and agx ride like crap so i dont know about those. anyways thanks for the help and i guess ur opinions will help my decisition. thanks
you whent cheap, and your car is mad,,, thats why he is hitting your head lol
To generalize...
Cheap springs ride cheap. You really do get what you pay for.
I have NEVER heard a complaint about the Eibach springs. They are expensive, but they are worth every penny.
BUT
Don't lower a car without proper struts DESIGNED for lowering. There is absolutely NO POINT in using OEM or non-drop struts (Monroe, GR2, stock, etc). You may as well throw your money out in the street... you're wasting both time and $$$ doing that. (We say it til we're blue in the face around here... yet people STILL DO IT!)
Also
Don't lower a car REALLY LOW without proper struts. NEVER EVER put AGX's and Sprints/Sportlines/coilovers together. It may work for a DAY... but you're still going to blow the struts.... and you're still going to be throwing the money away in the end.
Do it right... and do it right the first time.... and save yourself the $$$ and headache.
^^^ i second everything said above...
well according to your reg your on stock struts but you have koni yellows sitting around? why not throw them on. the reason your car sucks is because your on stock struts
i was gonna put them on but a while back there was some family problems in which one of my family members said i owed them money from when i was 15 so instead of arguing i sold the yellows to a friend and used the money for that. i bought them when i had money so now i am going to get the agxs since they are cheaper. and the megans i bought because in the winks gp he said they were a good spring. im dumb i know that but now i want to correct what i did wrong and do my suspension right. either ways im going to get the eibachs or the teins but it will come down to how much money i have when iy comes down to ordering them. lenko i really like how ur car sits on those springs. are u sure they are the prokits? that looks really nice. if i have the money i will the eibachs just because of how ur car looks on those springs. thanks
well just remember the limits of the agx if you get them. no more of a drop past 1.5" or else they wont warrenty the struts.
oh alright. the eibachs i think are still under the drop so i guess ill get those.
yea eibach is 1.4" drop and work very well w/ the agxs i heard
AGX + ProKit is an excelent combo. It's probably the
best for people who: are just starting; or want a simple but very good setup.
You had the wrong shocks, try either the agx + prokit, or get some konis.
well good news i didnt buy the agx's and prokit because my friend came down to my town and had the struts and said he needed money and would sell them back to me for 400 and he hadnt even installed them yet. i sold them to him for 525 and he wants 400 for them and they still havent been installed yet. i know i am gonna get them from him but will they be alright with the megan racing springs? i have like two fingers worth of gap on the back and like two and a half in the front. i know it dropped it like two inches but was just wondering though. i plan on eventually replacing the springs with something better but for now buying the yellows back is cheaper than new agx's and prokit.
I've had them on mine since mid summer and I haven't had a problem with them. I still have stock struts too but I'm just waiting for them to go out so I can replace them. Its odd that yours is so bouncy and mines not. For a reference as to the ride you can ask Slamin Sunfire, Fallin Angel and Cavy Xplosion ( Kim ) as they've all ridden in it that its not as bad as yours sounds. Don't ask me I don't know why mine would be fine and yours would suck but good luck with which ever way you go.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
well for like the first two weeks the car rode great and i thought they were the best springs in the world until i moved for school and like a couple of months ago and then they started getting bouncy and i would hit my head. maybe the dips in the highway put alot of pressure on them when they compressed or somthing. i dont know . i am gonna give my friend the money for the struts tomorow so ill see if i have time on the weekend to put them on.
i guess ima put them on on the weekend and if something happens to them my mistake i guess but i think that they konis will handle the drop so wish me luck with the install i have to do again.
I'm not sure about the spring rates on those, but the Koni Yellows should be able to handle the 2" drop just fine.
yeah you just need a strun that can handel the rebound of those spring rates. i like those spring rates. hey have you tried a little less tire pressure?
see ya!
no i havent lowered tire pressure. would that make a difference? i didnt know it would help.
