i have a 99 sunfire 2.2 and i have the 3 spd auto and i raced my friends girls 98 cavi z24 auto and it was the 4spd i belive. she beat me off the line until i hit second and i pulled hard on her til 85mph thats when i shifted to 3rd and looked back and she was 4 cars behind me and she said she kept it floored.
did she run out of gas?

i dont know thats where the max rpm is in second gear with my car its a 3spd auto tranny

No, your car is not a factory freak and her car, compared to your car, is not all that slow. To be completely honest, like the others, she should have beat you.

maybe she didnt keep up with her car's maintence. The 2.2 3spd is slower than a dog (test drove one once, thought my 94 Sunbird with a 2.0 was faster...), My 2.4 Sunfire is faster than a couple of cavalier's around here, only thing i can think was one was maybe a 2.2, and the other might have been an auto 2.4..
no she really was racing and the only thing i have done is a cone filter and a fart can and yes i do have a 3spd its says PRND21 i think that means i have a 3spd im not a stupid little kid i know how to do alot with cars thats why my t/a is running 12.5s
So you know how to maintain the car to keep it running properly... maybe you need to help her with her upkeep

A stock 2.2L 3 speed auto does the quarter mile in around 18 seconds. Pretty pathetic. The stock 2.4L 4 speed auto isn't much better... around 16 seconds. But you shouldn't win that race, no matter how bad a driver she is.
Shifting it manually will make a difference (both in how soon you're going to have to replace your transmission, and in times)... but not that big a difference.
We never called you a stupid little kid but what you have done to the car would not have taken at least 2 seconds off of your 1/4 mile time (going off of Lenko's numbers).

im just saying what is going on why did i beat a 2.4 i know there not 2secs faster than my car i kept up with a ecotec right on his back bumper the whole race except for off the line thats where he got me on his bumper.
if you have a "12.5" trans am then why are you racing in an 18 second j body?

just because your shifter saids PRND21 does not mean you only have a 3 speed!
With the mods you listed you cannot make us believe the stories you told. If you beat a Z and kept up with an Eco then get to the track and show us some timeslips, simple as that. I'm not trying to sound like an a$$, just telling you the truth.
