PLEASE HELP! bad engine problems

Okay, this is a long story, but i really need help. I took my car(95 z24 2.3L) to get a new compressor put in it because it was leaking and my a/c wouldnt work, i got it back the next day, and my check engine light was on, my car really wasnt doing anything funny so i continued to drive it, i just figured maybe the computer didnt recognize the new part or something, so the next day i drove it the light was still on and my car was idling funny, so i thought i maybe needed a new oxygen sensor, so i kept driving it, the next day i drove it and it was making a high pitched whine and idiling very rough and overheating bad.

I took it to a guy and he said that i might have blown an overhead cam, he just listened to it though. He said that if i did the whole top of my motor would need to be replaced and the parts for the 2.3L would be hard to find and it might be better to just find a whole new 2.3L well im thinking if parts are hard to find, thats not gonna be a walk in the park either.

so please help, has any of your cars done this before? What do you think it could be? What are my options? I know some of you on here would know a lot more than some random body shop guy!

well we cant really drive it anywhere to get it checked, but the guy that listened to it, said it was "obviously the engine" because it isnt holding any oil pressure at all, and not to bother with it.

No oil psi on a 2.3 sounds like the oil pump is junk, thats a real nice design, thanks GM. Usually when the pump goes it will knock from the counter weights in the pump.
Before you go any further you need to find out why the engine light is on.

First you need to find out why the Check engine light is on. Next how did the guy know it had no oil pressure? You said he listened to it, how does he know that? Also "blown a overhead cam"????? have you checked the oil? If so what does it look like?
Another thing parts are not hard to find for that motor.

parts are NOT hard to find..parts for THAT motor are one of the easiest and cheapest you will find..however, you do up upgrade options as well ..but these guys are right, you need to find out WHY the engine light is on FIRST..then go from there..keep us updated

okay, i will go tomorrow and find out why the light is on, i just work really strange hours so its hard to find time. I guess go to auto zone? maybe it will make it there.

The guy said he checked the oil pressure, and then he changed the oil filter to see if it would help and it didnt.

well my next question is, where can i find parts for this, and if i were to upgrade what should i do?
