Hey, I'm not sure what to say other then I got a '97 RS Coupe. Red with grey seats, 2.2 auto (yes Automatics suck but what can ya do). It's really in good shape , looks great, and going from a '89 RS I couldn't keep from breaking down every week it's a dream!
The only real plans right now are to put driving lights in the front, Maybe a few engine mods (nothing like my '90 Cav) Super Bright headlights, and of course better rims (has 15" black stockers with hubcaps right now) .
I'll catch y'all later

Maybe I am mistaken, but I thought Third Gen's didnt start until 2003 when they came out with the Ecotec (which is the sole reason that 3rd Gen's are by far the best J-body's in my opinion). You are saying that you got a '97 Cavalier? sad to say it but that's a 2nd Gen.

95-05 are built on the same chassis. thats why you can swap the fronts with no problem. everything is the same on them for the most part. also, the Ecotec was available in some of the 02's.
Okay , 3rd gens started in '95 as for the Eco didn't that start in '98??? I'm sure I've worked on at least one '97 Saturn that had one. {Got to love that Alt. mounted under the car design, I've changed about fifty of them. }
O'well It really doesn't matter to me when the Eco came out because my engine is a simple, reliable, easy to work on 2.2! While the Eco has more power, I'm fairly happy with the 2.2. About the only thing I'd change really is the automatic trans for a 5 speed. But, you can't have everything (till you start modding anyhow).
Simply put : I got it on the "Cheap side", it looks great =no rust or big dents, and it saved me from having to buy another Lumina which are great cars but not that much fun to drive. Well Later Y'all

ok, if they started in 98, then why would a 97 Saturn have one?. 02 is when the ecotec engine was available
Sorry about that I was thinking of the "Twin Cam", which I thought was an Eco-tech. As for the starting in '98 I meant just for the Cavaliers I know they changed alot for that year and figured they started using them then. And I've been told that the Eco-tech has been used by GM's Opel, Holden, and i think the other is Vaxhall (?) since the early '90's like '93?? But I don't care enough to check it out.
This is just one Cavalier in a string of them for me I've just never had a third gen before is all. Hopefully I won't need much help or have to work on it too much it looks way more "crowded" under the hood then my second gens were. Thanks later
