i was just wondering how often do the ld9 go bad. i just got the news that i need a new motor and tranny. the tranny im not surprised, its been going out since i got the car but the motor just went bad over night.
It all depends on how you treat/maintain it. I hate when people point the blame at the motor itself.
ya well ive maintained it very well oil changes every 2000 miles change fluids and all but the motor just kinda went it has 150k miles on it which seems kinda low for a motor to go to hell
Also how you treat it affects how long it will last, plus you wouldn't know how the car was treated before you got your hands on it. They are not bad motors, and you can't really pinpoint how often they go out because there are to many factors that go into what causes a motor to go bad.
ya, what is the problem they're saying with it? if it's the waterpump, then ya, it's high time it goes for a @!#$ anyway.

you couldn't be more WRONG there a horrible motors.
you do have to do you regular maintenance on them thats for sure, i help a buddy pull a 2.2ohv out of his sunfire 25 000km on the oil still ran perfect couldn't change the oil the drain plug was fawk we drill a hole in the pan ran it at 6000rpm to blow it up all it did was over heat the bearings and shut down siezed up if that where 2.4 it would be in hundreds of pieces on the road

Everyone has their own experiences with the motors. I for one have yet to have any bad experiences with the 2.4 and I am on my 3rd Z.
