okay so i am replacing my head gasket along with all the other gaskets on the top end. but i am wondering is there anything else i should do while i have the head off. this is my list.
-felpro Gasket set
-felpro head bolts
-water pump
-complete timing set
-new spark boots
-new spark plugs
-new thermostat
-coolant flush
head is at the machine shop i will be getting it back tomorrow
Be sure to check the belt tensioner and consider replacing the serpentine belt. If you don't have a header already, this would be a good time since everything is apart already. Also, check the oil pressure switch to be sure it's not leaking. Seems there's be an epidemic of those lately. Good luck.
two things that you will want to consider :
crank to timing cover oil seal
coolant neck on the head

Hi
You will need a drawing to show how the cam shafts and other timing gears should all be lined up and take your time to make sure it is correct before reassembly. Rotate the engine by hand for two complete revolutions stopping on the timing marks and make sure that every mark is lined up properly. It is really easy to be off by just a tooth which will cause all sorts of running issues for you to deal with.
